How do we tell MIL that she spells DD's name wrong??

DD is 11 months old. Her gran has met her once (lives accross the country- we see her approx every 2 years). She consistently spells dd's name wrong- skips the last letter. Every time we send her a picture write dd's name on the back correctly and thought she would notice and correct herself. Not so much. I am dreading tell her she's been spelling her grandaughter's name wrong all this time!!!

  • Just tell her, and don't be too bothered if she keeps misspelling it.

I had to be trendy and spell my kids' names differently, so we suffer from constant misspellings.  You just get used to it.

  • Call her and tell her. That way you don't have to worry about her not getting your "hints". She may feel a bit embarassed but I'm sure she'd rather that, than to find out years from now!

  • I just wouldn't care - She's old and you barely ever see her.  Unless she got her something personalized incorrectly, what's the harm?
  • Let me guess...it's your daughter sarah?  My friends grandma still spells her name wrong and she is 28.  Her grandma always adds the h.  I don't think i would say anything.  She's old.  She is probably set on it by this point.  My husbands grandma always spelled my name wrong.  She knew it was wrong to, but he had it set in her head that is how I spelled it.

  • Next time you see her and she has something with her name written on it- just be like "oh you left the E off!  her name is spelled xxxxE"
