I really despise Target right now

Came home to find the Pack N' Play and burp cloths I had ordered from Target last week on our front porch.  The box was completely ripped.  Opened it up and both packs of burp cloths were completely opened and strewn all over the box.  And the receipt...it's for the wrong person and the wrong products (racer back bras to be exact).  And my receipt, nowhere to be found...

So, I call customer service and tell them what happened and that I'd like a correct invoice.  They tell me that they can't do anything but I am welcome to return the product if it is unopened and I have the packing slip.  I explained to them again that the reason I was calling was because I got the wrong packing slip and the packages were open when I received them.  Well, they will make a note of what happened so that it won't happen again.  Otherwise, there's nothing they can do.

In reality, the opened burp cloths look fine.  But I thought the customer service was completely inappropriate.  I should at least be able to return the opened items...or send me new ones!

  • That totally sucks.  My patience is completely out the window these days.  Sh*tty customer service causes me to go completely BSC these days...  I'm amazed you kept your cool!

  • I would be calling/writing whoever is in charge of Target Corp. Are they basically just telling you to eat the cost and "sorry". That's not right. Where did you order them? Online? There may be an online record you can log into and get the order number from so they can pull the invoice from you. I can't see it just being lost in space!

    I have the emailed invoice so that's fine I'm sure.  But what really got me angry was that I can't return the opened items if I wanted to when I'm not the one who opened them.

  • that really suprises me, I had to call them once because I had an order that said it was delivered but it never came, and they just send a replacement, pretty much no questions asked and were super easy to work with...

  • Good customer service is knowing when you can circumvent policy. You will be using these items on your newborn. They should let you return them given the circumstances. If they valued you as a customer. You are right....you DON'T know how,why, or who opened them. They don't just fall open. I'd be mad, too. It's just sloppy. What if it had been a breast pump or bottles opened? I'd certainly expect to be allowed to return them for unopened items!

    I would be really upset too! Call again and ask to speak to a manager, or someone else higher up. Their response is inexcusable.
