What are your Baby Shower Plans? Ideas?

Hi Mama's,

Anyone have a head count for their baby shower yet? I have 65 but I think that's toooo much. I really wanted a small BBQ Baby Shower.

I like this Baby Shower themehttps://www.lilsugar.com/Shes-About-Pop-Bubble-Themed-Baby-Shower-15691202

Re: What are your Baby Shower Plans? Ideas?

  • I'm splitting mine into 2 baby showers because there'd be too many people. My sister is throwing mine and its a complete surprise, but I just recently threw her baby shower. She's having a girl and loves tea, so I did a tea party type thing. We had mismatched China, pastel decorations, vintage tea cups, etc. It was super cute and she loved it!

  • Wow, I am apparently behind.  I haven't even created my BRU registry yet..so needless to say, I don't have a head count.  I do know, however, that we're having a poolside BBQ at my MIL's house.  Co-ed and very laid back, Marley/Buffett music playing, you get the picture.

  • My mom and I are sitting down this weekend to hammer out the details. I had a pretty large bridal shower and I'm expecting a fairly decent amount of people for this one.

As for themes, I am in love with a nautical/sailboat theme and I found this on etsy that I LOVE:

  • My three (very organized & ADD) sisters are throwing mine - they asked what I'd like and I showed them this idea:  https://www.hostessblog.com/2010/03/real-parties-sugar-spice-baby-shower/

    My headcount is: 51

Just did my registry this past weekend and they are sending out invites this weekend so asked me to get it finalized by Monday-ish.

No clue when it is - but I'm guessing it is in late June and it'll be held at my oldest sisters house since she has the most room.  My wedding shower was also at her house and it was like the same "tea-theme" described above... china tea cups & pastels.. Very cute. :-)

  • I just helped them set the dates (since I have no idea how someone can be surprised... we have too many different things going on to schedule it). For the rest of the plans, I'm not involved!

My Mom is throwing me one, then my MIL for that side of the family, and then a lady in the neighborhood has been begging to do one for all the neighborhood ladies....... I guess I will leave it up to them, but I think all three will be 20 to 30 people.

Wow your theme is really cute, love the pink and brown and all the decorating pieces. 51 in a house, that must be a pretty big house. Im sure it will be beautiful!

That's kind of what I wanted, very laid back and people enjoying themselves. Thats the beauty of having summer baby shower :)

  • My BFF is planning mine. We talked about a butterfly theme since that is her bedding and it just clicked for us. We found edible butterflies off of etsy to put on a cake but I suggested cupcakes and we dying the mix purple with food coloring. We are excited. I finished my registries (BRU/Amazon) but as for setting the date and head count. We aren't there yet. Maybe I will call her and discuss these matters soon. Since she is planning it, I don't want to intrude. Maybe I'll just ask if she's thought about it. We decided Late August for our shower for several reasons. My baby sister is in Germany as she's a military wife so she'll be here for it.

  • We will be having three baby showers.  Two of them will be co-ed showers with approx. 65 guest each and will be more like a cocktail/dinner party than a traditional baby shower.  Then my best friend is throwing me a traditional girls only baby shower that will have around 15-20 guests.

  • Most of our family and friends live out of state (we just moved here a year ago), so despite the fact that we invited a ton of people, only 20 will probably make the trip here for the shower, which we totally understand.

We are doing a luncheon at a restaurant overlooking the river. No games and I guess no real theme, except my colors are pink, chocolate brown and lime green. We will be having the guests fill out "parenting advice cards", which we will read out loud before the gifts are opened. I have a part time baking business, so our favors are small boxes of red velvet cupcake mix with a customized sticker on the front that says "Awaiting Our Little Cupcake".

BTW veroMom, we have almost the same name for our LO's -- the name we chose is Kaeden :)

Her house is (too) big and its beautiful.  Ideally I'd love it outside b/c her backyard is so pretty, but if its too hot - she has the room, and the A/C to do it indoors too.  They did a great job w/my wedding shower so I can't wait to see what they come up with this time.  I'm very thankful for my sisters...

I love the Cupcake favor idea "Awaiting Our Little Cupcake" so cute! I like the name Kaeden too. I was thinking about that name for our little one as well. Yea for K's!

  • I have an initial list of between 60-70 myself. Half of that is just family. Fortunately my Godmother and Best Friend have offered to throw me showers so I am splitting the list. I also got a potential offer from my Cousin for a shower for just that side of the family, so I may do that as well.

As for ideas, that is really up to the host. DH and I may throw a more casual "party" kind of thing for his co-workers though, as many have expressed wanting to come to a shower.  And of course my Mom, MIL, and SIL are invited to all showers (They're local) but I won't be offended if they can't attend the others or if they attend without gifts. They just indicated that they wanted to come to as many as possible.

We're having 3 showers- 1 work related (14 people in my dept), 1 friend shower in our local area (15 people), and 1 family shower (in our hometown).  That will be a big one since DH has a huge family.  It's going to be 50-60 people.

I'm not helping with the planning of anything, but will gladly give my opinion if needed.  I was asked the dates that worked and that's been it.

  • Head count of invitees is probably near yours, but a good chunk of those are far away :(  I'll probably have in the mid 20s be able to come.  My mom is hosting at a Wild Fire - yum!  No idea of a theme or games, I left that up to her.

  • Right now my headcount is close to 45, and though I do want each individual to be there, I do kind of hope its on the smaller side. I brought up the idea of splitting it, but my mom wasnt into that so I let it go. Its taking place mid-June. 3 of my friends are planning but its happening at my mom's house since no one has an apartment in the city that could fit everyone and she is only 20 minutes away in the suburbs.

As of now, I don't think there will be a theme but they are planning on decorating onesies and having a box of cards for advice (2 of the same friends planned my bridal shower and did that--it was great, we read the advice the night before the wedding and they know I loved that). They also asked about doing a scrapbook, and I told them if they wanted to, they should run with that.

I am hoping for low-key, laid back, socializing and want it to be about celebrating rather than gifts.
