LO choked on peas

She was eating her pea puree and it looked like she was gagging, so I stopped to let her take a break and all of a sudden she started turning blue. I just about ripped the harness getting her out of the seat but luckily as soon as I leaned her forward she was able to cough it up.

I have decided purees are too dangerous. I am going to EBF until she goes to college.

Just kidding. Sort of.

    I worry about this on the thicker ones - like peas, lentils, etc.  Glad she is ok.  DD sometimes kind of does that silent gagging face - but has never turned a different color.

    Choking is like my worst nightmare.  I would've had a heart attack!  I'm so glad she coughed it up and is okay!

    That's crazy! Glad she is ok.

    Hadley has never choked on purees, but she definitely gags with peas because she hates them.

    I think I had about three heart attacks within the five seconds it took to get her out of the chair. And then I sat there and continued freaking out while she sat on her play mat and happily played with her toys. She didn't even cry after she spit it all up.

    Thanks for the good wishes. It was scary stuff!

    So glad she's ok!!!!

    DD gagged on avocados the first time I gave them to her because they're a little thicker.  But she didn't turn colors.  Man I would have died!  I also, haven't mastered the "Finger swoop" where you go in with your finger to swoop out whatever is caught in the back of their throat.  My BFF is a nurse and tried to teach me, but it freaks me out I think worse than the thought of her choking...
