Pulling feeling in lower abdomen

So I used Dr. Google before asking this question but last night I had a pulling feeling in my lower belly that lasted for literally, no joke, like 5 hours. It wasn't painful, merely uncomfortable, almost like I had pulled a muscle or something. It's pretty much gone today. I have my monthy appointment tonight anyways, so I'm going to ask about it, but wondered if anyone else has experienced anything similar? I think RLP is supposed to be shorter, you know?

Re: Pulling feeling in lower abdomen

  • I've had the same thing.  Way low in my abdomen and just on one side.  Feels like a strained muscle and it mostly bothers me if I'm walking and such.  I asked at my appt on Monday and the doc said it was normal.

I haven't felt pulling since early pregnancy and I had read it was the corpus luteum. Perhaps at this stage in pregnancy baby is positioned on a nerve or something. Luckily you have an appt. tonight and can get a true answer.

Please let me know what your doc says. I have had the same thing and I have had it on my sides.

    Good luck and thanks!

  • I read in one of my pregnancy books that this month there could be a lot of lower abdominal cramping due to your uterus growing and muscles pulling and stretching.  It was a week by week book or maybe I read it on www.babycenter.com.

  • At my last appt I had asked my OB about the tugging, pulling, etc sensations I keep having and she said it's all normal, just part of the uterus stretching to accomodate the baby. I'd definitely run it by your doctor tonight though, but I'm guessing it probably falls under the "weird but normal" category. :)

  • Hi! Big Smile  I called my doc about this yesterday, actually.  I was told that between 18 and 22 weeks, your uterus really pulls completely out of your pelvic area and moves upwards, causing all sorts of pulling/pains/aches/sensations.  HTH.  But let us know what your doc says!!

  • I had the same exact thing on Saturday, it also lasted about 5 hours. I asked my midwife yesterday and she said it's completely normal.  My uterus has moved up significantly since my last visit a month ago so that's probably why I'm feeling it so much.

I should have mentioned that after this odd pain yesterday, I feel like I grew overnight! My belly was as big as it normally is only in the evenings when I woke up this morning.

Same here, it's no longer just big in the evenings!
