The pedi charted his weight and he's dropped down in percentiles. He was 3rd at one month, then 10th at two months, but he's down to 5th now at 4 months. He's 50th for height (up from 10th).
She said that she wants us to work on weight gain - she switched his reflux rx to prevacid from zantac in case that's what's keeping him from eating as much as he should. We're also going to try a faster nipple on his bottles for a little while. We'll go back for a weight check next month.
I wonder if all his energy has gone to making him long, as he's grown over 6 inches since he was born. .
She also gave us the ok to start solids next month. How is that possible? My baby is so little!
Poor baby got his shots and is kind of miserable and exhausted now.
Re: f/u to weight worries
Great to have a plan!
And re: solids - I'm finding with my DS that just because I decide to start them, doesn't mean he's decided to take them! He's not loving anything we're giving him yet - and we were so hoping solids would contribut to STTN. Not to be. Sigh. This kid is just a stinker.
FWIW, M had his 9-month checkup at the pedi today, and he's 85% for height and only 25% for weight. The pedi is not concerned at all. He's always been a long, lean baby. There's nothing inherently wrong with that. I think he was around 75% for height and 35% for weight at his 6-month visit, so the discrepancy has become even more pronounced over time, but again, it's totally normal and fine.
3% to 10% to 5% sounds normal to me, I'd be concerned if he went from 5% to 70% to 20% but this is very little change, IMO
and the height gain is significant. Personally, I would not worry (easier said than done, I know). and definitely get rid of the scale!
Yep. He's still gaining, and you said that he recently hadn't been eating as much. The switch to Prevacid might help--DD definitely eats better on it. Still get rid of that scale though.
