So I just realized...

I have no clue what to pack in the hospital bag for baby! For me Im packing yoga pants and nursing tank tops. For her I'll obviously bring her coming home outfit but should I bring a couple sleepers? Pacifiers? Diapers?

This may seem silly... but I really thought this would be easier I guess.

Re: So I just realized...

  • I'll pack a onesie or 2, a couple of swaddle blankets, maybe a hat if I find one I like and a couple of CDs.  Not sure what else I might need.

  • I packed two onsies, a sleeper, coming home outfit and a recieving blanket...in case its a chillier day when we get to go home.

pacifiers and diapers are typically provided by the hospital.

  • They will have diapers and onesies.  I packed her coming home outfit, a swaddle blanket, and a regular blanket.  They will have everything else.  I probably won't even bring pacies or anything.  I want to breastfeed, and according to our birthing class close and hospital lactation consultant, pacies aren't good for them while they're still learning to latch on.  You want to avoid those and bottles the first few days.
  • Are you guys bringing a boppy or feeding pillow of any kind?
  • was wondering if i should bring boppy also! I prob will its comfortable to sleep with..

  • I've packed my bag and then i'm just taking a fully stocked diaper bag - a few sets of clothes, diapers, creams, powders, etc - i figured it might be better to be over packed than underpacked and i just don't know how long i'll stay in hospital for.

  • The hospital has most of the things you need for the baby.  Diapers, onesies, hats, pacis, swaddle blankets (mine even had brestfriends to use with plastic covers).  If you want to bring different things for the baby you can, but it's nice to know that if you forget something it isn't a big deal.  I'll bring a coming home outfit, another hat for the baby, lanolin (for nursing), and a blanket.
  • I am bringing a few different going home outfit options (in newborn and 0-3mo sz), a swaddling blanket, a couple receiving blankets and a few hats (I am so tired of seeing everyon'e baby photos with the pink and blue striped hospital hat).

  • I'm bringing 3 lightweight sleepers and 2 choices for the coming home outfit. I also packed a couple hats, a blanket for the carseat and I'll probably pack a swaddle blanket too. My hospital highly discourages pacifiers for the first couple of weeks if you are planning on breastfeeding so I don't plan on taking any. I'm taking my boppy too! I know I don't need so many sleepers or hats but I want to have her in her own stuff in her first hospital photos! Plus I'm so excited to get some use out of all the stuff we've been given for her.

  • There was a thread a while back (not sure which board) about bringing a nursing pillow to the hospital.  A few ladies said it was a waste/ they used a regular pillow but the majority of the ladies that brought them were happy they did.  I figure I'll bring mine and leave it in the car so that if I do want it DH can run out and get it and if I don't need it, we won't be lugging it around.

  • I packed two going home outfits (NB, 0-3), a hat, mittens, socks, and blanket.  I will just have her wear the hospital onesies until we leave (less laundry - hooray!).  I did not pack diapers, since I hear the hospital gives a ton before you leave and the hospital is like 3 min from my house - I am betting we can make it home before we need to stop for a diaper change!  I plan on bringing my boppy with me, but I will leave it in the car and decide if I want it once I start BFing.
