I am breastfeeding and was curious to how much everyone's LO's were eatting. He's not sttn yet and I've actually starting pumping and giving him a bottle with a teaspoon of cereal in it to see if that helps. What do you guys do?
We just upped him to about 5oz's and he's pretty regular about eating every 3 hours around the clock. He occasionally naps past the 3 hour mark and he doesn't STTN either.
It's actually not recommended to put cereal in the bottle, unless directed by your Dr. and it's usually just for reflux babies....it won't help him STTN.
I nurse throughout the day, but for the last feeding before he goes to bed, I give him a bottle with 4 oz. Sometimes he eats all 4, other times just 3. I'm not sure how much this helps him sleep because he's been sleeping through the night since he was about 4 weeks old. Before, we had to wake him to feed him, but I stopped doing that when it was easy to see he was putting on weight. He gives us a good 7-8 hour stretch every night, then wakes up, I feed him, and he goes right back to sleep for another 2-3 hours. Even though the cereal isn't recommended, if it helps him, I say give it to him. My mom started giving my brother cereal at only 3 weeks old, and he slept through the night from then on. He's almost 30 years old now, and happy and healthy.
LO is 7 weeks today and he usually drinks 4 oz, usually at least every 3 hours sometimes he wants it sooner like 2.5 hours- I have given him 5 before bed but it didn't make a difference he still woke up about 3 hours later to eat again. I just made him a bottle with 4.5 oz. and when I breastfeed it's hard to know what hes getting but if he is still hungry I give him 2 oz. with formula. He is napping better today so maybe he will be sleeping better at night too I hope!
My LO eats 4oz (sometimes 5-6oz) every 2.5-3 hours during the day. We feed her around 9:00p.m. and she'll eat anywhere from 2.5-4oz at the time. For the past several weeks she has been sleeping until 7:00a.m. or so, but it doesn't seem to matter how much she drinks at 9:00p.m. I figure we're just lucky.

I'm not really sure, because I'm EBFing, but usually when I pump I'm able to get 4-5 oz at a time, and usually he'll take that much in one feeding.
He does cluster feed in the evening and has been sleeping longer at night-- his first stretch of sleep is usually 5.5-6 hours. Usually he'll nurse pretty constantly for about 2 hours before bed.
OP, I'd probably ask your pedi about the cereal thing. It's usually not recommended until at least 4 months, and I think the current recommendation is nothing but BM until 6 months (unless there is some kind of health issue like reflux).

This.
If you want your baby to be more full try a bottle of formula as the last feed before bed. My m/w told me that it was normal for BF babies to get up more frequently through the night than FF babies.
My DD is 9wks and eats 4-5 ounces at each feed. She's been STTN for about a month now. Keep in mind the technical definition of a baby STTN is 5 consecutive hours of sleep between 11pm and 8am. That could mean your baby going down at 11 and waking up 4 or 5 for a feed then going back to sleep.

LO eats 3-4 oz (formula) every 2.5-3 hours. her last feeding is usually between 9 and 10. she'll go to sleep about 11-1130p and wake up between 530-7am (we're not on some stringent schedule). my bf stays at home with her during the day and says she'll wake up to eat then goes back to sleep for a couple more hours.
but she is on the skinny side so i might up her to eating 4oz every feeding (if she takes it)
DD is 2 months today and is BF. I generally get 3-5 oz when I pump (once a day before bed), but DD refuses to take more than 2-3 oz in a bottle. She'd rather get enough to satisfy for now from the bottle and wait until next feeding and nurse a little longer. Knowing this we tend to only use a bottle when we're out around the time she'll want to eat since I'm not comfortable NIP yet.
She gives us a good 4-5 hr stretch followed by a 3-4 hr stretch, but is not completely STTN yet. At her 2 month appt today pedi said that while it's not mom's favorite thing to get up in the night, it's not uncommon for her to not STTN for a while still.
