I saw this on etsy and totally thought of your cake!

    Love it!

    I was also going to page you about "the cake".... I used it as inspiration to make red/white/blue cupcakes for our DCP yesterday - she passed her U.S. citizenship test.  They were a hit!  (although, I couldn't get it evenly "striped" so they were red/white/blue marbled...). 

    I also used some of the batter to make blue/white marbled cupcakes to send home with my co-worker, to give to her kid who just got accepted to Duke. 

    I never would have thought of coloring the cake before your post...!!!!  This is revolutionary for me, as I love to make people goodies for special occasions.  Sometimes, these occasions need things like brightly colored cake.  LOL.

    That felt cake is adorable and for $12 I may just have to get it and look around her shop for some more things!

     Chia - I never really thought of coloring cake either.  I think marbling is all you can hope for in the cupcakes when you put the batter all on top of each other - at least what I have seen in other blogs etc seems tough to get any kind of stratification.  I only ever though of coloring icing but not the inner cake - wouldn't a blue and white or red/green vake be awesome for Christmas?  Also the cake showed me how easy those impressive layer cakes can be.  I want to make more cakes with tons of layers now!  Also next up are alcohol themed cupcakes for girls' weekend in July and a rapunzel cake for Maggie in August.
