Today I met with one of the OBs in the practice that will be delivering me. They are on a rotation with 5 docs so I am meeting them all and whoever is on call will be the delivering OB.
I told her I was going to VBAC and asked for her opinion on VBAC. She said-"The research shows that it is the safest for both mom and baby"--and went on with stats and information that I already knew but was 100% encouraging and supportive of VBAC. I was sadly shocked.
My primary OB has said that she will "let me have a trial of labor" but this doc was awesome. I hope that she is on call when we go into labor!
I was impressed that she was up to date on the research and knew her stuff about VBAC. Sadly many of my girlfriends and women on this board are fed false, non-research based from their OBs. I was so glad to meet and talk with an OB who knew the real deal and didn't try to scare me out of VBAC at all. I hope there are more of them as we move forward!
Re: Great quote from OB (but sad it is the exception)
That's wonderful that you are foward thinking about your VBAC. Now is a great time to shop for an OB who will be supportive of you!
I grew up in the Cities but don't live there anymore. I don't have any advice/recommendations for you. But, I would recommend checking out your local ICAN chapter-surely in a big area like you're in there will hopefully be tons of references and a great support group.
Good luck with your TTC journey!
