Rant/vent about money. (NBR, of course)
I get a WHOPPING 23.09 a week in child support from ex. But, it's 23 extra bucks a week that is helpful either way. It's garnished from him. But his STUPID boss's wife can't seem to manage to stick it in an envelope and send it to Child Support services weekly. She'll do it when I call them to complain and they call her. Long enough to shut me up. Then it's every 2 or 3 weeks or when she feels like it (this lazy b!tch doesn't really do so much that she can't throw the check in the mail...seriously)
I could count on it every other Thurs. Then it was Friday..then Sat...now, here it is 2 weeks and 2 days since last one....no sign of it. Would've been nice since my son's filed trip payment was due today AND I need some gas money til Friday. CS services has a LONG list of compl
It also gets better. I pay child support religiously for my DD. Child support services screwed something up over a year ago and tried to say I owed 6,000$!!! FINALLY in Feb they conceded I owed NOTHING. Bringing my balance to zero. YET...they still took my state tax return in March. Now...here it is May. Still waiting for them to refund it back to me (get this: they can take it as soon as I file....because even if your balance goes to zero...they wont send a notice to IRS retracting their notice of lien. BUT....they are required to hold it 45 full days before they can give it back to me!!!!! When it was all THEIR mistake in the first place).
Um...hello people?? I am kind of counting on that money for some baby stuff.....maybe even more maternity clothes since I am now being squeezed in these ones! Why do I have to wait for money owed me (in both cases) yet I got my taxes taken TWICE now for something it took them over a YEAR to concede I NEVER owed????(because I pay my child support AND THEN SOME on time for 9 years now) Plus I am bitchy, hormonal, and (as everyone would agree) EVERY penny counts when a baby is on the way!
P.S.: same boss's wife screwed up my FIs paycheck-he works there too-and gypped him out of 16 hours overtime because she was too lazy to check his hours. She guessed and gave out checks 20 mins AFTER closing time. We actually ended up owing a late fee due to that (check being late AND short)....since she didn't fix it til a week later.
PPS: The woman's own daughter has said she gets onto her mom for paying the businesses bills late all the time (with no excuse...they have the money and the time. Instead, she racks up late fees.
PPS: I want a friggin ice cream. And frappucinno. and a nap.

Ug. Working for a family business can suck so bad. People always talk about how horrible big corporations are, but they couldn't get away with half the ridiculous junk that smaller places do. I use to work as accounts payable at a largish construction company. My direct supervisor was the president's daughter and it was absolute hell. I realized later that she was actually embezzling money in a major way. I went crazy trying to figure out why she was so mean to me. Now I seriously think that she treated me (and everyone else who has ever had that position) that way so that she'll have a scape goat every time things look off and so that nobody would stick around long enough to really figure out what she was doing.
I got so tired of having people call me about late payments and promising them that I ran the check on a certain date, only to find out later that boss lady snatched it out of the outgoing mail pile and was holding it in a drawer in her office. Both times that I've worked with someone who I thought was just incompetent/lazy financially, I've realized later that they were just playing dumb and there was really some serious funny business going on. I don't know the people you're dealing with obviously, but I wouldn't be surprised if you found out later that all the weirdness isn't just due to her being spiteful and lazy.
The problem is...she never technically is over a month late sending it. One time, when she WAS very delinquent....she caught it up 2 days before the sheriff came to their business to collect. So she keeps sending it in right under the wire...in JUST enough time where she doesn't get into trouble. Even my caseworker from child support services sees that. but every time he starts paperwork to get her into court..she fixes it before she can get into big trouble. grrrrrr
I totally feel for you, we are on the opposite of CS. DH pays over $1200/month in CS and his company's Comptroller always takes out too much and ends up sending an extra payment. Each time DH makes a commission they take out extra CS. We've tried talking to Comptroller but she simply says it won't happen again. We obviously don't want to contact CS to correct the extra payments since that will cause a whole other issue etc..
Its just frustrating when a company hires incompetent people. Its also a family owned business!

OMG! I didn't even get into the overpayment. You see, he owes past due for my son that does NOT go to me (it pays back the state for when my son had medicaid). Well, in a calendar month..if I get OVER the total 107 a month I am ordered to receive...they keep the overage and put it toward that balance. SOOO..if she is late, she will send this huge lump sum. IF that lump sum puts me over 107 for the calendar month...I don't see the excess. So that means I just don't see it. PLUS...they also put him past-due to ME that same amount. SO in the end, he will end up having to pay it twice for her mess up. So you'd think he'd be just as interested in making sure she sends what is being garnished...ON TIME! Nope. He says "It's garnished, I'm in the right, it'll be her fault". Well, not if you end up having to continue paying for the even MORE past-due she is making you incur!
