Need some advice

I had a bit of a cold last week and was so afraid that DS was going to get it. He kinda got a stuffy nose but nothing horrible. Now he has a cough. Sometimes it isn't bad..and then other times it sounds like it's all in his chest. I don't know if I should call the dr or not. I just called them last week to ask them about him with his tummy troubles since his diapers were all mucosy just because I don't know how to tell if the formula I put him on was not working with him or not. I know that is why they are there to answer questions and I'm a first time mom. I just don't want to be like a hypochondriac and freak out and think the worst of every little thing that goes on with him. Because I'm sure his dad thinks that about me. I don't know if it's just the weather since it changes every 15 min. What would you do?

    Wait it out. If it sounds wet or like he's exhaling everything in his lungs after a cough, THEN call your doc because he may have pertussis or whooping cough. But if it's just a cough even if it sounds irritated, it's most likely nothing.

    If I were concerned (like you), I'd put a call into the pedi and wouldn't give a hoot what DH thought.

    Same I'd call if worried.  When we were trying to get DD's reflux under control I called so much they recognized my voice but that is what they were there for and they reassured me it was fine to call.

    If you're a little worried, call. THere is no harm and if they are anything like my Dr's office they are super nice. I just called mine yesterday to ask if I can use Newborn formula that says 0-3 months on it if DD is turning 3 months tomorrow! Kind of a dumb question but I'd kick myself if it wasn't right and I didn't call to ask! :)

    Our DS has a cough around Easter, we wait a few days to call and called anyway.  The Doctor wanted to see us since he was so young.  It was just in his nose.  I'd call and see what they think.  It doesn't hurt to see what the dr wants to do.  Don't worry about what others think about you if you call-you are doing what you think it best for your child.
