Once Upon a Child vs. garage sale

edited July 2021 in Ohio Babies

I'm in the process of spring cleaning and thinking about getting rid of baby clothes. The neighborhood I live is doesn't seem very conducive to garage sales (one-way, not in development, older neighborhood) so I'm thinking about taking some clothes to Once Upon a Childn.

Just wondering what kind of experience other Columbus moms have had with selling there or if there are other recommendations (besides Craigs list) on how to get some money from them (I live on the west side and am a working mom, so the easier the better)

  • My personal opinion is that they pay way too little for clothes and baby items, especially for how much they price them for. I would either have a yard sale and then try to sell them what is left over, or wait and sell them all at a consignment sale like three bags full. You've just missed all of their spring sales, but they have them in the fall as well. I sell all of our stuff there and make a pretty decent profit. Certainly much more than I would make at Once Upon a Child!

  • Bring your stuff to German Village and set up at Schiller Park or on 3rd Ave. for the Village Valuables sell on Saturday May 14th. The sale is the largest in the city and runs from 8am to 3pm always packed full of people, I think over a 1000 people visit every year.
