I hate potty training!

Last night, DD was sans diaper, watching TV with us.

She suddenlty says "I need to go poo-poo!"  She got up.... stood on the carpet.... we urged her to go sit on her potty.

And then.  She pees.  All over herself and the floor (she was wearing a dress).  Then she says "I spilled!  On my clothes!"

Just when I thought she was *maybe* getting the concept of peeing in the potty... no such luck.  :(

  • oh geez...that's no fun.

we had a peeing on the carpet incident last week. but it was just because warner was running around not letting me put a diaper on him after his bath. and fortunately, it was just his bedroom carpet that is destined for the garbage soon anyway.

we are still a long way off from any real potty training :-(

  • I love it. "I spilled!"

My MIL is in town this week and for some reason yesterday she insisted that both my 5 mo. old DS and my 2 year old DD stay with her for the day instead of going to daycare.  (She's not much interested in my 4 year old who has opinions about things - making her not nearly as cute as the other two!).

I get home and my 2 year old is walking around the house with a shirt on, panties, and shoes.  My MIL thought she'd tackle potty training for us - you know - in one day.  She said DD peed on herself five times that day.  I love MIL for trying to jump start potty training, but I had to laugh at how she was approaching it.  Just sort of assuming that the minute you put panties on a 2 year old they'll immediately get the concept that it's not a diaper and they will - within a few hours - get the entire concept of potty training.

Of course I thanked MIL, but Indifferent.  Oh and PS, all the kids are at school/daycare today.  Lol.

  • That's funny, but hey, it sounds like you're farther along than we are!  DS is terrified of everything.  He's terrified of having accidents, he's terrified of his pee or his poop making him gag (it has happened in the past), he's terrified of the flushing sound...

  • if you think she's ready, keep trying, sometimes it takes awhile for the child to learn to recognize the signs of having to go. Pee on carpet is better than poop, right? :)
  • Me toooooo. He was doing really well last week. Yesterday I said "do you have to go potty?" while DD was in ballet and DS shook his head and then proceeded to pee through his pants and shoes onto the floor in the lobby. Today DH and I were finishing dinner and he announced that he had pooped on the floor in the playroom. A couple weeks ago he pulled his pants down and peed into his baseball glove because I guess the 8 steps to the bathroom were too much for him! I know we will get through this since I've done it before but man is it a pain!!

This made me laugh out loud.

I am so not looking forward to the process with twin boys.
