Did anyone else catch this on the Today show this morning? IDK what to think about it - though I will admit I find it a wee bit creepy!

Re: Seriously? Breastfeeding Doll
Agreed.
I mean, GASP (while I clutch my pearls)... How absolutely ridiculous that little girls mimic a perfectly natural/normal/acceptable way to feed a baby! My delicate sensibilities have been offended!!!!!!!!
Seriously... who cares?? Oh wait, I know... more people who think breasts are only sexual objects.
(ETA: I'm not angry at the messenger
or anyone else who doesn't love the idea... I just think it's ridiculous that it's such a big deal and 'controversial'..)
This. Why would it be controversial when it's perfectly "normal" for little girls to feed their babies with a bottle?
love your updated siggy pic! She is getting so big!
I agree with Jen and Hannah-- its not really that big a deal. I've known tons of little kids to pretend to nurse their dolls, I've even seen my nephews pretend to do it (but they also pretend to be midwives and doulas haha but thats an entirely different story).
I do think it's a little strange to make a vest with the daisy where the nipples are supposed to be for a little kid to wear. I think kids need more imaginative play though and probably wont be buying any kind of doll that "does" anything. They can use their imagination that the doll is wetting its diaper, drinking its bottle or nursing.
I agree with everyone else. It's totally fine and normal for kids to imitate adult behavior and I am not in the least bit creeped out by kids mimicking breast feeding. Flower nipples are unnecessary as I think kids can figure out the mechanics without assistance. At least mine does.
And why does this doll keep making its way to mass media crap like this? It's old news. The doll has been out for a long time - why doesn't the "shock" and "creep" factor die down already?
I wonder if the flower 'nipples' were partially an attempt to keep little ones from lifting up their shirts to pretend to breastfeed? And of course, they're also the only thing that makes this doll any different than a regular ol' baby doll
Gotta make money some how
And for real... I remember this thing making the rounds when I was newly pregnant with Henry.... well over 2 years ago. Not exactly new stuff here people.

I totally agree with all of this. My girls pretend to feed their dolls by way of breastfeeding b/c that is really the only way they've seen me feed a baby. The vest... not necessary.
