Opinions wanted (Coming "out" on FB ment'd)

Ok, so I'm getting very close to second tri, and am thinking about when I want to announce on FB. My question for those of you who have chosen to announce in that way, is what week did you come "out"? and why that week as opposed to earlier or later?

Also, if anyone has any cute ways to annouce, I'm all ears! TIA ladies!

We waited until after our anatomy scan. At that point, we had already shared the news with all of our employers and closest friends and family, so it was more just a formality than anything.

I tagged my hubby in a status update that said "David and I are overjoyed to announce that we are expecting a baby boy June 22nd 2011!"

Short, simple, and to the point.

I shared it on our anniversary at 16 weeks, mentioning that our anniversary present would have to wait another 6 months.

We also waited until after our Anatomy Scan @ 19 weeks.

This was primarily because I was super nervous after all we had been through and wanted to make sure we were far along first.

I posted the profile shot of our LO, along with the caption "Baby W**** - Arriving September 2011!!!" to my facebook account.

Nothing fancy, but people liked it.

We just announced on Sunday. I wanted to wait until after the anatomy scan and then ended up just waiting until Mother's Day. I tagged DH and said something like I can't believe next Mother's Day I will be celebrating with another little boy...DH and I are expecting.

I will announce when I'm in the 2nd tri. A friend of mine posted a picture of a bun in the oven...get it? Teehee, I thought it was adorable.

I was 20-21 w when I came out on face book. I didn't tell most people I work with so I had to tell them first then I let it out on facebook.

I came out around 26/27 weeks. I figured by that point, if the baby was born early, she would have a good chance of surviving anyways.

We came out on Saturday, which was exactly 12 weeks. We decided it was time, because by that time we had told our families and friends and figured we would be outed on FB soon anyway. Plus, we had seen the baby's heartbeat three times and will only be having one more u/s this pregnancy (anatomy scan). We didnt want to wait that long, so we figured we were as safe telling at 12 weeks as we would be at any other arbitrary time in the near future.

Oh, and since it was Mother's Day weekend, I said something about "celebrating my first Mother's Day tomorrow". DH went for: "Its offical, we are expecting a baby in November". I'm sure everyone will be excited no matter how you tell!

I announced at 16 weeks. Most of my family already knew and so did a few good friends. We had our elective scan that day and I was feeling pretty good about things. I said "Miracles are born every day, ours is due Sept. 30." Most people got it. Some said they didn't know until I put his profile picture up late last week, including one of my good friends.

I have been wondering this too. I plan to announce on FB after the anatomy scan to be certain everything looks as it should (for instance, I understand they look at the chamber of the heart), but I want to tell close friends in the next few weeks and my mom is begging to tell family.

If anyone is reading this, how did you ladies keep your friends/family from spilling the news on FB before you were ready???

I threatened that if they told, the next time they wouldn't know I was pregnant until after the baby was born. I also turned off the ability of others to post on my FB wall.

We're still debating if we'll "announce" on fb or just let people figure it out, meaning not delete "congrats" posts and such. If we do announce we are waiting until the anatomy scan on June 13. Our anniversary is June 14 so I think we'll announce then, tying it to the wedding anniversary. At this point we've still only told family, and plan to tell close friends as we see them once I start to show.

We went public on FB after our 14 week appointment, which made us more pregnant than ever before. We told our family, friends, and employers first; then announced on FB.
