Anyone else's DH freaking out?

Everytime I move, groan, make a face I hear a panicked "whats wrong?" "what time is it? I'll start timing!" LOL then I have to spend 5 minutes convincing him its not a contraction but an RLP or just a hard kick from the baby. Today I saw a snake in our driveway as I was pulling in and called him, I admittedly freaked out a bit, but I was just going to go to a friend's house until he came home from work. He actually told his boss he had to leave early and take care of it because he didn't want me going into pre-term labor! It was sweet, but good lord I am only 35 weeks he needs to chill out a little!

Please tell me he is not the only one! And yes we are first timers if you couldn't tell : )

Re: Anyone else's DH freaking out?

  • Mine is, but a different presentation. He keeps saying "I wish we were more prepared." This is in reference to not having our careers where we would like them to be before LO. He keeps making comments about the baby coming soon, and "we're having a baby." He's freakin out in his own way. He's not worried about labor. He is convinced that I will go to 40 weeks, or even late. I think it's more of wishful thinking.

  • We had a L&D visit last Friday after my 36 week appointment due to high BP. DH was totally clueless, and couldn't understand why everyone was concerned about my 170/130 BP, because "You look fine, and its not that high." When they admitted me in the ER, and the doctor said I might be a mother for mother's day, I think it really started to sink in. He freaked out a little bit. He was not ready to bring home a baby.

He spent all day Saturday putting together and cleaning the nursery. Poor guy.

  • Well at least he cares ;)

I get annoyed that MH cares about stuff I think is dumb (e.g., freaks out that my shoe lace is untied - like I somehow am not just pregnant but now stupid too, and didn't figure it out on my own) but I guess I'd feel worse if he didn't care about the pregnancy at all.

Mines worried that this ones head will get stuck, since apparently I had trouble pushing DD head out.

  • I didnt think DH even thought much about her coming so soon, but when we were at our L&D classes last Saturday, he was furiously writing notes through the whole thing. I think it hit him how little he was prepared for what all is going to happen. I must admit it was kinda cute to see him freaking out.

When we got home he started making a list of all of the things we still need to finish in the nursery and even helped me with the DIY mobile project I've been working on. haha

Yes!  We are first timers too.  When I get up to pee in the middle of the night he always goes "Baby, are you ok"  I go " Yes, hun I just need to pee, please go back to sleep"  LOL he always asks in the most wide awake sounding voice so I am wondering if this man ever sleeps!

  • I wish these little freak outs he has would motivate him to help me get ready! So far he only seems concerned with labor and delivery, I don't think he quite gets that we are bringing the baby home with us, so that means we need to get the stroller, swing, etc... put together, and yes we do need to stock up on diapers... I guess the second wave of panic will come once he's holding the baby and realizes none of that stuff got done lol
