jogging 3 weeks after birth?

I also posted on health and exercise

I had a very easy labor and delivery- thank God!  It has been three weeks and I feel great.  I was told to wait until my six week appt to be cleared for exercise other than walking.  I am going crazy!  I am a bigger runner and want to start again.  I have done the 30 day shred the last two days and feel great.  Has anyone started jogging before their 6 week appt? Is 6 weeks a typical time frame?

  • I started Couch to 5k yesterday, so 4 weeks after delivery. I also feel great, and it felt good to do something exercise worthy. My pp appointment got moved to 8 weeks out so I'm just listening to my body to know my limits. I say go for it! You can always call your OB's office and ask.

  • My OB told me the day after I delivered to start working out when I felt ready to do so.  I've gone running 3 times already and my DD was born April 30th.

They were short 2 mile runs, but I felt great.  I plan to just listen to my body and work out accordingly.  We've also gone walking together in the evenings, with baby and DH.  Good luck!

I started running 3 weeks after I delivered and felt great. I didn't run very far but it felt good to get back out there again. GL!

That doesn't compute with me. 1 mile walk feels like a marathon to me. :-)

  • I waited until 6 weeks and I'm really glad I did. Keeping it low key really helped my bleeding to go away fast and I actually felt recovered by 6 weeks. I've been doing the 30 DS and have been running since.

  • I was doing Zumba 4 weeks after my C Section...probably a really terrible idea but I feel fine.  The doc told me I was probably doing too much but the really important thing is that I don't lift anything heavier than the baby in his carrier.
