I am in tears over this and have the worst stomachache now.
My husband's parents babysat my 1 year old son tonight while I was at parent teacher conferences and my husband was at a work dinner. Right before they left his father quickly told me that his mother TRIMMED our son's hair. HE HAS NOT HAD HIS FIRST HAIRCUT YET!!!!! I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo FN P*SD!!! I was purposely holding off on getting his hair cut.. She has some nerve to cut his hair FOR THE FIRST TIME without asking us permission and without having us there. I HATE HER GUTS!!!! what am I supposed to put in the baby book now under "first haircut" ?????????
"Nana trims hair without permission from Mama and DaDa & neither were even home!!!!!! " ...doesn't save hair either (there's an envelope for the hair)... 2nd haircut- "real haircut". She has done sh*t in the past- but this takes the cake.
Re: Does anyone else hate their mother in law???
OMG that is my worst nightmare. My DD will be too this month and has fairly long hair. But while it was growing in and was in that in-between stage my MIL was always asking me when I was going to get it cut. I was so distraught thinking that she might cut it without my permission that I actually had a nightmare about it. Like a full on nightmare. I was crying and moaning and screaming in my sleep and all.
There are no words to describe how livid I would be if my MIL actually did it. What did your husband say? I sure as h.ell hope that he put her in her place.

Welcome to the evil MIL club! Mine is Satanic Barbie!
Seriously sorry you have to deal with such a pill!
omg I would be so pissed. My mom has threatened it, but I made it very clear that no one would be cutting her hair but me. MIL wouldn't dare do it.
I dislike her for other reasons - I took pics of DD in her Halloween costume and DH sent a pic to her on her phone, she just said she didn't look too thrilled with the costume. Nothing else, not cute or anything!!!!! whatever...
Sorry that happened though!!! Hope you feel better soon!
Ugh. MILs. Mine said she wanted to watch our baby, then a few weeks later said she wasn't up to it and didn't want to be away from FIL (even though we're local). She has now been 2000 miles away for at least six weeks watching her daughter's baby who was born a couple of months after our son. She's now up to it and doesn't mind being away from home. Even more fun, she regularly mentions how she couldn't have left her kids in daycare! Oh, and it's not her job to justify why she does what she does and she's being a "strong women" to do what she wants.. I honestly don't want to have anything to do with her - she can stay 2000 miles away!!!
The haircut thing would totally bother me too. It's like MILs don't think that boundaries apply to them.
No, I don't hate my mother-in-law. She died before DS was born. I'm clearly in the minority here, but is it possible that you're overreacting? I would give anything to have my MIL give my DS his first haircut...
That really, really sucks. I definitely don't think you're overreacting. I would tell MIL myself how pissed I was.
I don't really hate my MIL, but I do dislike her by association to my FIL, who I do HATE. He had heart surgery before dd was born, and I hoped he wouldn't make it through it, because I don't want him around my dd. I know I'm totally going to he!! for saying that, but whatever. I was going anyway.
Wow, what did he do?
I am about to cry for you. My MIL gave my son Diet Dr. Pepper when he was 3.5 months old just because she wanted to see his face squinch. I am obviously still not over it & that doesn't even come close to what yours did.
I am so sorry, I think this will really stay with you & she is an idiot!
