Baby Monitor for twins in seperate cribs

We are looking into baby monitors and I am overwhelmed. The babies will be in seperate cribs across from each other and I am worried about hearing them both. What kind do you have? Does it have two seperate units (one for each baby) or just one and it works for both? Do you like it?

Re: Baby Monitor for twins in seperate cribs

  • Are you looking for sound only?  We haven't bought ours yet, but we've been looking heavily at the summer video monitors.  They have a couple good options - one with a camera that can pan and zoom...or the one we are considering, you can have up to 4 cameras for.  I think we're going to end up with the second one and buy two cameras for it...one for each baby.  We've played with them in the store and they seem to work pretty well - and I've seen others here recommend them.

  • Our girls aren't here yet, but our room set up is the same as yours. Both girls' cribs are opposite of each other. We have a Sony Baby Call 900mhz and that thing picks up everything! H and I have had a good time playing with it. We could hear a cat meow on ours, so we know it'll pick up a baby cry very quickly.
  • We have just sound (not video) and have one in their room.  They share a room and we have no problem hearing when it is either one of them regardless of where the monitor is in the room.  Ours is a Fisher Price model.

We have one Angelcare sensor pad and one sensor pad that also has a sound unit. You can easily hear both babies on the one sound monitor.

  • We have the Summer Infant Slim & Secure video monitor. It came with one camera, so we had to purchase a second one individually. I love it! The monitor scans back and forth between the two cameras every 5 seconds or so.

ETA:  It's equipped for sound too.

  • sound only and you'll do fine with one between them.

we use angelcare monitors (motion sensor pads) and have 2 in the room- one for each crib- but only use one parent unit to hear, since we can hear both babies + both monitors if they beep, using just one parent unit to listen with.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • We use a basic audio only.  The 1 base station is enough - we can hear both babies without issue.

  • We also bought the Lorex one from Costco because it came with the extra camera and normally buying an extra camera (especially for Summer brand) is super expensive. We are very happy with our purchase!!

  • We have the summer infant best video monitor (got it at target online) the camera pans and zooms and works great for being able to see both cribs, ours are also across from eachother and the sound works great as well.

You can add additional camera's, if the pan/zoom doesn't work for the location your cribs are in. I've also heard great things about the angelcare monitors mentioned above.

  • We have the Summer Infant Day & Night model.  It only comes with one camera, so we purchased a second camera separately.  We have each camera on a shelf above their cribs, and one hand held unit that has an A/B switch, so you can easily flip back and forth b/t each baby's crib.  It also has night vision, which I love.  Got a great price on Amazon.  Highly recommend it.
