I've been lurking here lately. I'm wondering what the general consensus is on Megan? It doesn't seem to be mentioned often (if ever) and I'm wondering if it's just not popular or is there something else?
You know, I love Megan with the NN Meg. I've been thinking about this name lately and think it's just the right amount of girly with a neutral NN. It also ages well. There are other variants of Megan in Greek like Megara or Megaera but harbor some negative meaning behind them so I would personally avoid those.
DD's name is Megan, so I obviously love it. I was just curious why I don't see it recommended more often. We only call her Megan, not Meg, but she is starting to refer to herself as Meggie sometimes.
It sounds a bit dated to my ear. It's one of those names that was very, very rare in America before the '60s (I think it is a Welsh diminutive form of Margaret), so it doesn't have a long history of use to balance out its modern popularity.
If you do use it, I like the way you've spelled it best ? no reason for extra vowels or Hs trying to make it look all Irishy.
My name is also Megan, and it was one of the top 10 names the year I was born. Because of that, some of my family and friends call me by my full name "Megan Colleen," which makes it a little more distinct. I went to school and grew up with a ton of other Megans around, but now a little girl would be a little more unique with our name.

That is my name, and I have always liked it despite the fact that I was born at the height of its popularity.
I think that it has fallen off the map these days, which is a good thing, and I think it is a name that grows well with a little girl.

This is my cousin's name too, except she pronounces it MEE-gan and freaks if anyone mispronounces it!
But I love Megan - near the top of my list!
