Baby back arching?

My little girl has started arching her back when we put her in her bouncy seat or when she's somewhere she doesn't want to be. I've read that this can be a bad sign but she's not doing anything else abnormal. Anyone else have a back arching baby?

  • She's not trying to sit up? DD does it when she wants to sit up. :)

  • My DD does it too. Sometimes when I start to nurse her, but usually when I set her down somewhere like the bouncy chair. It doesn't seem like anything is really wrong, just like she's annoyed and wants to change positions.

  • It is a sign of reflux, of coarse along with other symptoms. Is it usually during or right after feeding times? If so and LO is also crying or spitting up you may want to go to the pedi and get it checked out just to be safe. That is what our DS started doing at 2.5 months and he has silent reflux, he would do this when trying to nurse or right after eating and be very upset but not much for spit up but we could hear it coming up in his throat and him swallowing it back down. They gave us a rx for zantac but we have just been making sure to have him sit upright for 20 mins after all feedings and that worked better then the rx so we stopped giving it to him.

  • No spitting up, no crying or fussing after eating. Just sometimes when we're holding her or when we put her in her bouncy seat. I feel like its when she wants to change positions, but man she's got an attitude already!?

  • My DD does this if she has been in her swing for a while and seems annoyed about being in there, like she's trying to shift positions or just plain get out.

:) I think it just means that they are smart enough to express their desires!
