Paint Colors!

So who has started on the room yet!?  I know I can't wait until June 2nd so we can start!  But was curious, has anyone chosen their paint colors yet for the nursery.  There are soooo many to choose from!  Just curious what your colors are?  boy or girl?

Re: Paint Colors!

  • Our second bedroom (baby's room) was baby blue when we moved in. We are having a girl, but I think I am going to keep it baby blue. Our decor will be mostly lavender and I think it will actually look really nice together. Plus, we rent and I don't really want to deal with the hassle of painting it again when we move (which may be before baby is even a year old).

I'm really not a fan of pink... but I am trying to teach myself to like it because I know that regardless of my taste, I am going to be given tons of pink sh!t since I'm having a girl!

  • We'll be using different shades of yellow on the wall, regardless of the sex.

  • I needed to get the room ready in order for all the furniture, so I dont know what im having yet, but my room color is almost the same green as the color on the side of the bump web page...I know green is boring but it works with pink or blue really....

  • if it is a boy (we find out in a week) we are doing yellow and light blue with a chair-rail.  For a girl I want light pink and pale gray.
  • Apple green, by Benjamin Moore.  We are doing a green/orange modern nursery with white furniture, regardless of sex.  This is the color:

  • This is what we're doing. We're not having twins, so we'll just go in either direction after we find out the sex of our LO.

My first order of buisness is to do my daughters room since I figure as a girl, she has a right to the bigger closet so we are moving her.  I also feel like I can do her room better now that I know her. Here is my inspiration board I have put together for her room.

I will also point out that DH is bent out of shape that I want to paint her room blue and says that I can paint our boy's room blue.  I want to do his orange though (it has wainscotting so it would really only be half orange).  The orange is still an argument in process.   I love these space dinosaurs for a boy.

  • We're doing light turqoise either way... and then orange or yellow like this

  • DD's room is two shades of light green with a white chair rail and we went with the oak finish furniture.  i decided on a pretty robin's egg blue for this one--regardless if boy or girl, i will make it work one way or the other!  and for this one we will go with darker furniture just so that it is different from DD's.

  • I would suggest using Behr paint its low VOC (volatile organic compounds that can cause cancer and cause that paint smell) It works really well and they have some great colors.

  • We're doing a medium gray color with lots of yellow accents and white furniture (mostly because we're getting a hand-me-down white crib). We don't know what we're having but we wanted gender neutral no matter what.

We are having a girl and our nursey will be pink. The walls are currently a dark aqua so we are using that Behr (sp?) paint that includes the primer in it.

  • We don't know what sex the baby is yet, but we plan (haha I plan, DH didn't really have an opinion) to do light green either way.  We have separate bedding picked out but it both have green.

Benjamin Moore makes odorless, no VOC paints.

  • Because I am such a OCD planner. I chose our nursery colors and painted before we were even married :) The walls are a pretty sand color with wood accents and a very light blue ceiling. I figure we can add decorations and bedding to make it more boy or girl friendly once we find out what were having (On Friday)!

  • We've already painted even though we don't know the sex.  We decided on a very light beige that will go with anything - it matches the rest of our house colors.

Our family of 5 is complete!!  Love our boys!

  • We are having a girl and will be painting the nursery brown and pink with a chair-rail.  We are either going to do dark brown on the bottom half and light pink on the top or a darker pink on the bottom half and tan at the top.  Haven't quite decided on which one yet.

  • We are sticking with the neutral grey-ish beige (I promise it looks nicer than it sounds) that runs throughout our whole house.  I will add the color through the decor.  No painting walls for us!

  • We painted the "office" green before we knew it would become a babies room (didn't even have time to furnish it). Since we are having a girl, it will have  green walls with pink, brown, and yellow accents.  If we were having a boy, it would've been green walls, with blue, orange, and brown accents.

  • This is what we're going to do for our baby boy's room:

A pretty baby/sky blue on the top and a nice light (not mint) green on the bottom.  The theme is Lambs and Ivy Team Safari.

  • I really want to find an interior paint that will work for either or a boy or a girl. I think I'm going to go with a light green color, then my d?cor can be either blue or pink and it will still look good.
  • We're team green, so I wanted a gender neutral room that I can add splashes of colour to later. We painted 3 walls of the room a bright green colour, similar to the green pictured above. The 4th wall, where we've put the crib, is the same green with chocolate brown and a lighter green stripes.

Once baby is here, I will add either turquoise or magenta accents for some extra splashes of a more gender specific colour.

  • We are doing a med gray with light pink moldings, doors, and ceiling.  DH bought the paint today and the painter is starting tomorrow.
