stupid ??

I have a stupid question: I heard about the theory that mosquitoes bite pregnant woman more frequently so...is it safe to use bug spray? I have been told to stay away from most chemicals and certain stuff that your skin can adsorb so wasnt sure if its safe. I live in Maine and the black flies are THICK and the mosquitoes are starting to show themselves and I want to enjoy my spring/summer outside.

    IDK about the bug sprays I would ask your doc.  However, a good alternative might be to get some skin so soft from avon, my mom swears by it and she spends all her time out in her garden in the spring/summer/fall.

    I think I read somewhere that you should avoid "deet" based bug spray.

    You should avoid using deet bug sprays directly on your skin. You can however spray your clothing (sparingly) let it sit for a few minutes and then put on the clothes without any problems.

    My friend was preggo through the summer a few years ago and the mosquitoes were horrible, she did the above and it worked perfectly.

    Mosquitos tend to bite people who have vitamin B deficiencies, according to an OWT, so maybe that's the issue. Who knows? I would definitely avoid sprays with Deet in them though. That's some nasty stuff.

    Like Danni said, the Avon skin so soft has a DEET alternative called Picardin that is *supposed* to be safer than DEET. I can't find the specific article that I wanted to reference, but I'm linking the SSS and you can read up on the Picardin.

    Having a bounce dryer sheet on you works well, too.
    I do this when we're out of OFF and I usually rub my dogs down with a bounce sheet when they're outside and it seems to help a lot.

    I don?t know the answer of if you can use bug spray or not...

    but they sure do bite pregnant women more... I live in El Salvador so there?s mosquioes here all year round

    I picked up some CUTTER NATURAL, it is Deet free. I dont know how well it works yet but it is worth a shot.
