D.C. Area Babies

I need friends

We just moved to Mo Co in Feb. and I have been on modified bed rest--so not able to go out and do much.  I just had our second son 2 weeks ago and the mind numbing sleep deprivation has officially set in.  I'd like to get out some and be able to make friends here.  Are there resources for moms groups?  When I google for the Potomac, Rockville, Gaithersburg areas, I get the MOMS of ... groups and meet up groups.  Any suggestions on good ones or other places to look?

  • Welcome to the area and congrats on your second!!  "Mind numbing sleep deprivation" - I hear you. My third is almost six months old and not STTN, I keep telling people I'm so tired I literally feel like I'm going to die.  Or at least fall asleep standing up.

I don't know much about MD, but here in VA the mom group I got the most out of was through Inova hospitals (Alexandria, Fairfax) so maybe also look at local hospitals to see if they have some groups?

Wife, Musician, Fed, WW-er, and Mom of three little kids - not necessarily in that order.

  • Not sure where you are in MoCo. I'm in Kensington, and I know there is a Silver Spring West moms group that encompasses my zip code, but I haven't checked it out yet.  I'm a bit of an introvert so the idea of having to make new friends kind of freaks me out, but I'm a SAHM so I know I can't have it be me and the munchkin forever. :)

  • There are some meetup groups, and I have found that bumpies make good mommy friends--the problem is finding time to get together!
