did anyone get theirs yet for baby? My crap-tastic health insurance won't give her an ID # until we get her SS#... how long did yours take to get? We filled out the PPW at the hospital when she was 1 day old, she was born April 27... thanks!
When we left the hospital, they told us we'd get it in the mail in about 6 weeks. She was born April 5th, and will be 5 weeks old tomorrow. Haven't gotten it yet.
I was told it would be up to 10 weeks before we got it and the birth certificate. Our insurance wants the birth certificate ASAP as well... and won't take the 'verification of birth' form we got at the hospital. Grr.

Ugh, LO was born April 1st and we still don't have his. I even called the hosptial to check to make sure that filling out the paperwork was a part of their process and they said it was. Who knows when we will get it.
It took us a month to get the paperwork back for his brith certificate... when DH copied my drivers license the experiation date was cut off so we had to send in a new copy and do some more waiting for that too.
For those of you that haven't gotten your LO's SSN card and it has been about 4 weeks....call Social Security and verify that a number has been issued. They can't give you the number over the phone, but they can verify whether or not a number has been issued. If a number has been issued, go to your local SSA office and order a duplicate SSN card for your LO. Make sure that you have proper ID & you should have no problem.

M was born 4/17 and we didn't fill out the stuff with the birth cert clerk until the 19th. We got M's ss card in the mail 2 days ago, so just shy of her turning 3 weeks old.
My baby was born the 4/15, we did the paperwork 4/16 and we got her SS card in the mail last week ( I think on Wed. or Thurs.). So no where near the 6 weeks it could take!
