Happy Monday ladies. Hope you all had a great mother's day yesterday. I got many many cards (one each from the dogs, one from the cat, one from the dogs, cat, gecko and DH all together and one just from DH) and he got me a huge Orchid. It was so nice of him, I was not expecting anything other than maybe a card from the animals. He also had the swing put together when I got home which was awesome.
I wish I could have spent the day with DH but I was in New Hampshire spending the day with my mom which was really nice as well. We went out for lunch and so many random people wished me happy mother's day as well as the security guard at the airport, it was really nice.
How was your day?

You didn't get cards from the kids? I'm sorry. Here is a belated mother's day gift
and some cake to go with it.
This exactly. But I did go ahead and install the carseat. That was actually fun. Crazy to think there's gonna be a baby in it soon!
I had to work. BOO.
We're strapped for cash until Friday, so in lieu of a gift, DH got me the Wendy's I'd wanted since someone brought it in to work for dinner, and the Wunderbar I've been craving all week.

Mine was good,.. but laid back- which I didn't mind at all. I got up with DS yesterday because I let MH go out drinking with one of his buddies the night before. (I really didn't mind.) He got up about an hour after DS and I, and made me biscuits and gravy for breakfast, and then told me to go back to bed... so I got to take a good 2-3 hour nap!
Then I just took DS out and about, just some "mommy and me" time out of the house for a change. Got a lot of "Happy Mother's Day's" from strangers and such. Then I came home and cooked dinner. (I wanted to). We all watched a movie before bed, and turned in early, because MH had to leave for work at 2 am this morning, because he has a chopper jump today. (He's Airborne w/ the Army.)
I got my "Mother's Day present" really early this year... back in February when I got my Kindle... so it was a simple but nice day.
I hope you all had a good day, too!
H took me & the girls out to brunch at my favorite resturaunt. That was Ok. The food was awesome, but a 2 y/o & a 5 y/o at brunch can be a little tricky. We were in & out in under 45 mins -- we had to eat fast to escape before a meltdown!
We stopped at my parents house on the way home and I gave my mom her card. Then we went home and I spent the day doing baby laundry -- my shower was on Saturday -- and putting things away.
The best part was the H let me sleep in! Our girls get up at 6am religiously. They have no concept of a "weekend." We usually take turns getting up with them -- one will do Sat & one will do Sun -- and he let me sleep in BOTH days this weekend! That was the best!
MH and I went to his cousin's 4-year-old daughter's birthday party. I had my panties all in a bunch about it before we went...I thought it was so tacky that someone would schedule a child's birthday party on mother's day and expect all of these kids and their parents to show up. But I guess I was the only one who cared, b/c there was a really big turn out! The best part of the day happened when MH was holding a 6-month-old baby girl who belonged to one of the party guests...she looked so natural in his arms and it got me all teary-eyed, thinking about what a great daddy he's going to be! We also found out that MH's auntie and uncle are going to be in town visiting over my due date...I would be so pumped if they get to meet our baby right after I have her!
I didn't want any mother's day stuff for me; it felt like jinxing it, ya know? We did got out for froyo after the party at my request...the birthday cake did NOT satisfy my sweet tooth!
Aww, Thanks!

I'm really sorry, I think I would be really hurt if I didn't get a "happy mother's day" especially since you have a DS. Maybe you could go really over the top for his b-day or father's day, I mean hand paint banners, huge card out of poster board, balloons, a big cake, the works to show him how nice it feels to be recognized for what you do. Maybe then he will remember next time it comes around.
I'm sorry he forgot. In the almost 12 yrs DH and I have been together he's forgotten a lot of holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, etc. Even though I expect it now and have gotten to the point of asking for his cc to buy myself presents after the fact, it still hurts sometimes. I'm sure your DH like mine loves and appreciates you so much, but special events just aren't his thing. Maybe next year.
