TTC after 35

Update after D & C

First - thank you everyone for your kind words and personal stories.  It really helped me calm down.

The surgery was easy and I had no pain or discomfort afterwards.  Other than jonesing for coffee and food!!  My surgery was scheduled at 1:00 but pushed back to almost 4:00, so I was starving.

And the good news (maybe) they found scar tissue in my uterus - which could be the reason for all the m/cs.  I won't know for sure until I get pregnanct again, but I'm hoping my problems were my uterus!

Thanks again everyone - know one understands like the people on this board understand!

  • Yay! I'm glad it went so well. I came on and looked for an update this weekend, so I'm  glad I popped over here again to look again. Hopefully the scar tissue will take care of any issues you were having and the next one will be your take home baby. Hugs!

  • I just want to pop in quickly and give you some advice about your D&C and scar tissue.  I had a miscarriage, followed by a D&C.  Four months after my D&C, no period.  I failed the provera challenge twice and all my hormones tested normal.  Finally, the doctor ran a hysteroscopy and I was diagnosed with uterine scar tissue.  If you notice that your periods have not returned, your scar tissue could have grown.  D&C's cause the growth of scar tissue.  Doctors don't really talk about it because only a handful of docs can successfully treat it.  Uterine scar tissue is also known as Asherman's syndrome.

Anyhoo, my uterine scar tissue was successfully treated by a physician in Boston.  Also - an ultrasound won't pick up the scar tissue.  It is diagnosed by direct visualization of the uterine cavity.

Please feel free to PM me if you have more questions.  I feel that my ttc journey was delayed for well over a year trying to get the scar tissue resolved.  I just want to help other women to avoid it.  And little did I know that the D&C is what caused it.  I know for a fact that I did not have the scar tissue prior to the D&C as I had previous uterine surgery and I passed the HSG.

    Best of luck.
