Cloth Diapering

diaper bin?

FTM looking for some opinions on the best bin for dirty nappies. Do most just use a regular covered trash can with a dry bag? What is thought to be best for covering smell? I looked at the Bambino Mio, but is it really that much better than a getting a regular trash can and buying the bags?

Also, do you all keep in LO's room? Or somewhere else in the house?

Starting to get a bit overwhelmed with the new world of CD'ing. Be prepared for more questions later :)

Re: diaper bin?

  • I started out with a pail and wet bag, and hated it.  I quickly moved to hanging wetbag.  We have one Planetwise wet/dry, and one Weehuggers.  I love them both.  We keep them in the bathroom, throw dirties in, zip, and the smell stays in.  When it is time to wash, I carry the whole thing down to the basement.

  • I use Natural Baby Company Pail Liners.  I got a diaper pail from BRU that has a compartment where you can stick odor absorbers (only $17.99), so i just stick an arm and hammer odor disk (sell it at BRU too) to absorb the odors until i am ready to wash.  Works well. Can't smell anything once the pail is closed.  I keep it in the nursery and wash every two days.

  • We use a hanging Fuzzibunz bag and it just hangs on the side of DD's changing table.  No stink yet as it is EBF poop and there is air circulation.
