Would you call OB?

I am having some really low pain. It started yesterday morning and it's still going strong. I THINK I am just constipated, but given my history I am more than freaked out that it's still here. I took some Miralax on Saturday night so I thought Sunday when I woke up with these pains maybe it was gas or the laxitive working. Well... 2 days later and I still haven't had a REAL BM. Every time I move I feel like someone is stabbing me with a knife. It's extremely low and on both the right and left side.

I went to a cookout yesterday and I ate all the fruit I could handle, 2 fiber bars and drank a gallon of water and really still there is no success. I have taken colace every day and the Miralax is what the OB told me was safe last time I was in. I have an appt today with the MFM to follow up on trying to get my NT scan done, so I may just wait and ask them, even though they really aren't my doctors. I am just scared that it's something more than just being a little backed up. WWYD?

Re: Would you call OB?

  • I had very similar pains around the same time as you (I think I even posted about it!) and they scared me.  I would even double over in pain.  I really don't have an answer for you, they eventually went away and I didn't contact my OB.  I just wanted to let you know that I've been there in everything was ok.  I would just mention it to you MFM today and see what they say.

  • My thought is, if it is worrysome to you or bothering you, then call.  That is what the nurses line is there for. I hope you can get answers and feel better soon!

  • I've had horrible round ligament pain through this entire pregnancy which my MW said becomes more aggravated by constipation.  My pain has been on both sides (right more than left) just inside the hip bones. The pain has been so bad at times that I could not walk or even move. I actually had to call off work one day because I woke up and couldn't move it hurt so bad. I would definitely call your OB if you are worried. My MW pushed right where the round ligaments were and asked if that's where it hurt and sure enough it was. It made me feel a little better to know that it was just RLP. Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do about RLP but you could treat the constipation so the RLP isn't so instense.  I take 3 colace pills each night as well as drink benefiber a few times a week and that seems to keep me regular. HTH and you get relief soon!

  • I would call, but I'm also super paranoid. Hope you get relief soon!
  • I would definitely call your OB just to be safe. I had awful round ligament pain in the same region and down by my woo-hoo when I was heading into my second trimester.  I called my doc because I thought something had gone wrong.  It was just my body stretching.  It was excruciatingly painful, particularly when I moved.  Call your doctor, that's why they get paid the big bucks.  Hope everything is okay.

  • I would call too.  If anything, they can at least tell you its nothing and ease your mind a little.  I hope you get some relief soon.
