Babies: 0 - 3 Months

Murphy's Law of Parenting

The baby is asleep. I go in the kitchen to make some breakfast. Right before I take my first bite, the baby starts screaming like she's on fire. No wonder I've lost all of my pregnancy weight. Sigh...

  • i swear they know. DS went through a couple of weeks where he would not let me eat anything. if i had been cleaning bottles instead of eating, he would've stayed blissfully asleep. the second i would try to eat anything, though, he would start screaming bloody murder.

  • they do know....I can not believe it..

Another thing is when one child goes to sleep the other wakes up....even if it isn't time to.

Example:  This morning DD2 wakes up at 7 am for her morning bottle, then falls asleep (so I am thinking oh I am going to lay down a little while because DD1 doesn't get up until 930)...I lay my head down and DD1 starts screaming from her crib.....so here I sit.

  • LOL when people comment on how I'm looking good on loosing the baby weight I always say it's because I have no time to eat!!

my DH, DD1, and DD2 apparently know it is mother's day and all just slept for 2 hours (still going) while I ate yummy "welcome home baby" cake.  :-)

  • So true! Lately, though, I've just been sticking him in his bouncer for a few minutes so I can finish eating.  I can't produce milk if I'm starving and I find he stays fuller longer if I've eaten a decent meal before feeding him.

This might make me sound horrible, but my philosophy (after dealing once too many times with that!) is that she can wait. I do my best to make sure I'm not going to set dinner for right when she should be hungry... she usually goes three hours. So if she starts crying to be fed at the two hour mark and I have a plate in my hand (or am about to)? She waits. I eat fast when that happens (not like it's an enjoyable dinner when she's crying through it), but I like my dinner to still be hot when I eat it.
