So my brother and future SIL just got a new kitten. I think it was only about 3 weeks old when they got her. Anyway, so her facebook status from the other day says, "taking care of a very young kitten is a lot like taking care of a newborn."
Oh, sweetie...

Happy Spring!.
Not trying to be snarky... but wait until you have a newborn baby until you say this.
I think the reference might be based on the fact that if you're hand feeding a very young animal they have to be fed every 3-4 hours, keep them clean, and keep them at a certain body temperature. I have rescued newborn animals and I have raised a child, they do have some similarities, but I'd still say babies (human ) are much more work...and for a much longer time! I agree that if your SIL had any children of her own she might not make that comment
Not to be snarky back, but wait until you've cared for a litter of newborn animals until you say this.
Happy Spring!.
That is fair. But while I have never done this I have a friend who does (God bless her) And everyone who does should get a lot of credit.
And while it is DEFINITELY a lot of hard work it is nothing compared to a human baby. Not even close.
Yeah, we're cat people instead of dog people, partly because dogs are so much more high maintenance. No offense to the dog lovers!
I hope she's right! My two dogs were cake - if a baby is the same, then I'm golden! Haha.
On a funny side note, we learned a lot about our parenting style from our pups. The first night we brought the first one home, we had him in an old PNP (he's a tiny chihuahua mix) and when we went to bed he cried and cried. We tried to let him cry it out (like a baby), but caved in under 20 minutes and put him in our bed where he slept peacefully and has since then (we're transitioning him out now and it is going ok). Obviously we were meant to do "attachment parenting" and we will probably have trouble getting our actual children out of our bed.
After "babysitting" my sisters puppy, I'd much rather take care of a newborn.
