anyone have recurrent ectopic pregnancies?

I posted recently about my second loss in five months.  Things went from bad to worse, unfortunately.  I had a D&C Weds. because my betas weren't falling like they should.  They did not find pregnancy tissue and my beta was up today, so I had to have methotrexate, again.  I went through this in Dec.  Anyone deal with this issue and go on to have a "normal" pregnancy?  I am feeling so discouraged.  I have a history of endometriosis, so this shouldn't be a shock but its just so disappointing.  Thanks in advance.

  • I don't have the same experience so I don't have anything sage to offer you. I'm just so sorry that you are going through this at all, much less for a second time.

  • I have had two, left side both times.  The first time I had surgery, but they left the damaged tube in there.  The second time was catastrophic, I almost died, and I lost the tube and ovary on that side.  Since then I haven't had trouble getting pregnant (just staying pregnant >< ) and I've had Margaux and now this new one.

It's discouraging, but it still may very well be okay in the long run.

  • Thank you peppernut for the response - it is encouraging to hear that you made it through the other side (but what a horrible journey, I'm sure).  I'm going to do acupuncture and just try to get as healthy as I can in this forced 3 month wait... and we'll see.  I am trying to get to the place where I can accept that what is meant to be, will be, but I'm sure not there yet.  Thanks again.

My sister had an ectopic 11 years ago (she was 22).  She almost died from it (didn't know she was pregnant and the tube ruptured).  Had surgery.  We thought they removed the entire tube but left a small part of it.  Fast forward to 3 years ago.  Got pregnant and it was also ectopic.  She had been trying to get pregnant for over a year at that point so she wouldn't let them give her meds to terminate the pregnancy unless they could prove it was ectopic.  The did exploratory surgery and it turned out the fetus to bigger than they thought so they had to remove what was left of the tube (the small part left over after the first surgery).  She now has a 1 year old.  It took a long time for her to get pregnant but there are some issues with her husbands parts (not hers).
