pacifier..

i SWORE she or any of my kids wouldn't have one but...here she lays sucking away. Embarrassed the nurse in the nursery who kept her on our last night there gave her one and didn't ask first. well she fell in love and now that is what she looks for when she wants to go to sleep...oldest has his blankie and thumb, poor middle child has nothing..I guess the middle child syndrome is true so far lol

I'm the opposite, I wish DD could hold onto it better. her poor siuck is still so weak that she drops it all the time!

I love having something that I know will sooth when when she's upset!

However: I do wish she was not so attatched to the ugly orange one she got in NICU, I have super cute pink and purple one (same binkie- gumdrop!!) but she likes the orange on the best?

well I swore I wouldn't bc A) I hate kids who are way too old and still using it B) didn't want the fit thrown when getting rid of it C) didn't want a kid who was dependent on a thing and esp a certain thing. we were at reunion in the middle of BFE and my brother who was less then 2 had a certain paci and we lost it...ya so we had to drive and drive finding a rite aid to get that certain stupid paci..

    bad memories lol

  • Just remember, you can take away a binkie but you can't take away their thumb...I didn't want to give DS one either, but I was becoming his pacifier. He takes it to fall asleep but spits it out other times. Once he becomes interested in  toys, we will being weaning him off of it. Don't beat yourself up over this and don't feel like you have to justify it others. As humans, we have an innate desire to want to suck. If we didn't, BF wouldn't be so natural....

This. When I used to work at a daycare, we had kids who sucked their thumbs well into their elementary years. I'd rather have a few days of fighting about getting rid of the paci than have a kid who sucks his/her thumb when they're that old.

  • I swore I would never give one and finally gave in at 3 weeks. She's decided that she hates ALL pacifiers though and now I'm wishing she would take one!

  • I wish my little girl would use a pacifier! I put it in her mouth and she gives a few good sucks and then drops it...
