Babies: 6 - 9 Months

A silly survey IHO mother's day

I realize our babies are not even a year yet but I was thinking about this tonight while giving Charlie his bath (my mind wanders).

If you had to choose a song right now that you would dance to with your son (or your H would dance to with your daughter) at their wedding, years from now, what would you choose?

If you have an older LO, you can pick for that one too!

  • Oh gosh, I don't know! I danced with my dad to "Landslide" by Fleetwood Mac at my wedding and it was perfect.

DH danced with his mom to "In My Life" by The Beatles. I might pick that song. I like the lyrics.

Both good songs! Jimmy and my first dance was to a Fleetwood Mac song! (Songbird).

And my sister danced with my dad to "In My Life". It's a beautiful song so that works!

  • "What a wonderful world" by good ol' Louis Armstrong.

I think DH and DD will dance to that :)

Oh and to answer my own question: I would pick Dream a Little Dream Of Me by The Mama's & The Papa's.

I sang it to Charlie when he was in my belly, and I sing it to him now and dance with him.

  • On Love, On Life by Bayside. If that song had be out when DH and I got married, I think we would have danced to it.

  • I danced to My Little Girl by Tim McGraw..I'm not really a country music girl either but he is kind of mainstream. After hearing the lyrics it was perfect. Even dancing with my dad it made me think about one day my dh dancing with our little girl if we had one.....and now we have 2.

Ok: full disclosure. I always put music on while giving Charlie his bath and Cat Steven's "Father & Son" came on and I was getting teary!

Which then made me think of him growing up, and being a man and... yeah I was basically bathing him in my own tears.

  • The only one that I can think of now is Zion by Lauryn Hill. When DS was only a couple weeks, I started singing this to him b/c Colin fits in perfect for her son's name.

I'll probably change my mind, though. It's not really a wedding song.

This, and In My Life are both great! I also really like the Stevie Wonder song, "You are the Sunshine of My Life" (that was the song my dad and I danced to).

I don't want to think of this. [covers ears with hands] LaLaLa

Fer serious though, when DS is having a rough night and I'm frustrated with him I rock/nurse him and remind myself of all the fun things we will do when he is bigger.   I just remind myself that if we can make it through this part it will get so much better.

Our son will be the song he was born to: Take a Breath by Dave Gilmour

     Take a breath

    Take a deep breath now
    Take a breath
    A deep breath now
Take a breathWhen you're down is where you find yourself
When you're drown there's nothing else
If you're lost you'll need to turn yourself
Then you'll find out that there's no one elseTo make the moves that you can do
When you fall from grace your eyes in blue
Your every breath becomes another world
And the far horizon's living hellTake a breath
A deep breath nowThis kind of love is hard to find
I never got to you by being kind
If I'm the one to throw you overboard
At least I showed you how to swim for shoreWhen you're down is where you'll know yourself
Then if you're drown there's nothing else
When you're lost you need to find yourself
Then you'll find out that there's no one else

I could NEVER dance to this song. I cry just thinking about it, there's no way I could dance to it in front of people.

I change all the "Her/Shes" to "Him/Hes" when I sing this to him. I sung it when I got to hold him for the first time.

It makes me cry when I hear it now.

  • Suuuuper late to this but I have a really good answer for this one!

My song for Donovan has always been My Wish by Rascal Flatts - I used to sing this to him when he was a baby all the time and he sings it with me now.

Dammit now I'm drunk & crying.

For Luke probably either Beautiful Boy by John Lennon or I'll Be There by the Jackson 5.

  • Late to it too, but I had to add to the convo becuase I think about this all the time.

Already picked out H's Father Daughter dance song for whichever of my girls marries first- "Father and Daughter" by Paul Simon.  I guess they played it on the Wild Thornberrys Movie, its on Sirius 'Kids Place Live' all the time. I love it! I am actually making a Father's Day compilation for him, and it is the first song on the play list.
