Re: First IUI any advise?
Hi,
I have not had an IUI yet, my first one was cancelled because of too many follicles last week.
Some more info might help us... You never answered my question on your previous post about how you knew you were not ovulating even though you have 27 day cycles. What did your husband's semen analysis say? What is your diagnosis? Did you have a cyst previously and you are sure it is not there anymore? Because you can't take clomid if you have a cyst.

Baby N conceived after 1 miscarriage and more than 2 years of TTC. Diagnosis was low sperm count. We found success after 3 months of anastrozole to increase DH's testosterone and one IUI.

Oh, thanks for the info! yeah, it did suck to have it cancelled. It was awful to make that decision.
It is strange that your progesterone was so low, even though you get your periods every 27 days. Did they check it at 7 days past ovulation?
Here is our link to info about the IUI

and here is a video about how IUI works.

ChicagoWeds link to our blog explains it well but as a personal experience story, here's mine. Cd 3 u/s was fine, started clomid cd4-8. On cd12 u/s they said I had two follies...one 19.5mm and another pos. too big at 27mm. Was told to give myslef the trigger shot that night (this kinda surprised me as I thought they'd do it).
The shot was fairly easy and almost painless because it's so small. Then we waited a day and on cd14 DH dropped sample off and an hour later they did the IUI. Very much felt like a pap. Quick and again almost painless. Just felt like a pinching feeling in ute.
I will say on the clomid I had alot of ovary pain from my egg follies growing nice and big. By cd10, walking around all day by 5pm I was hobling around like an old lady so be prepared for some possible aching. But they good news is that is the follicles so I always tried to look at the silver lining.

Because at our mid-cycle ultrasound, they found I had four follicles. We decided that was too high of a risk for mulitples. That is why mid-cycle monitoring is so important. Canceling a cycle sucks and it is a hard decision, but you need to know when that decision has to be made and not go blindly into an IUI where you could have triplets or more. Are you going to be monitored?
