Parenting after 35

FFSC

I just need to vent a little. I am feeling overwhelmed right now. DH's dad passed last Sunday and DH went to Germany on Tuesday for the funeral, so I am alone here with Sarah until next Thursday. I can't talk with DH because of the time difference and I'd really like to be there for him during this time, but we can only trade emails right now. Our Au Pair who has been with us since Sarah was born is leaving next week and our new Au Pair came to us yesterday. Sarah knows the previous Au Pair is leaving and of course doesn't want that to happen, and to top it she's missing her dad. So I want to comfort Sarah and DH and also help the new Au Pair (who just came from Argentina, is 21 and has never travelled outside of Argentina before) get acclimatised and it seems all a bit much. I know it will all be okay eventually but I am just not in a good place right now.

  • It's OK to vent. That's a lot to handle at once, PLUS you're pregnant and working full-time. Honestly, I think you're doing awesome, hang in there Left Hug

Thanks for all your kind words!

The new Au Pair had the sweetest surprise for me this morning - she had taken a picture of Sarah and me on Friday and left a frame with it on the kitchen counter for me to find in the morning, with a happy Mother's Day note! Since DH is in Germany and we have no family here, she said she wanted me to get something for Mother's Day. How incredibly thoughtful and considerate of her (especially since Mother's Day is not until September in Argentina).
