Umbilical Herniation

Anyone else's lo have this? My baby girl does and DH keeps teasing her about it lol. I looked it up online and it seems like a harmless condition, just wondering how common it is and how long it lasts for those BTDT whose other lo's had it.

    My ds#3 has it and our pedi said it is nothing to worry about. He said most times they close up on their own but if he still has it by 3 then we'll talk surgery. Also my friends dd had it too and she said hers closed up around 2 but she still has an outie bellybutton.

    Yep Aubrey has one and this is what our pedi said. Except they wouldn't talk surgery until she's 5. He said it's only fingertip sized so I'm not worried. DH makes fun of her too because when she cries it 'dances' in and out.

    DS has it, I asked the pedi about it and she basically said it's not a big deal at all but if it's not completely healed by 3 years old surgery will be done to heal it. Since our two week appt I've already seen a big improvement.

    She did however say the only thing that I would need to watch out for was if after crying he was not able to be consoled and his belly was hard. If this happened she said take him to the ER because there would be a chance that something could have gotten caught in his belly button but that the chances of that actually happening were pretty slim.

    Our DD has it as well, and the pedi said it will likely resolve itself.
