Babies on the Brain

Do you think it would be OK for me to go swimming?

We are going away for the night and we booked a hotel with a pool so we can bring Oisin swimming.  Do you think it would be OK for me to go swimming or should I just skip it and wait until I get cleared at my 6 week appointment?

Honestly, and I'm not an overly cautious person, but I would wait. I doubt you would be shooting a lot of public pool water up your vag but it's probably better to wait. If it was your own pool I might have a different answer.

Can you call the on-call nurse?

The only person on call would be my OB or the covering OB.  It's not worth disturbing them on a weekend for a silly question.

  • I think I would settle for sitting with my feet in the water and passing on the actual swimming.

Yeah, I think so too. You just never know how clean a public pool actually is. There can be some pretty nasty stuff in there.

My dr said as long as I was done bleeding, then I had healed and could get in water, etc.  However----I agree about the dirty pool water.  Rumor is, people pee in there. ;-)

He's the single greatest thing I've done in my life and reminds me daily of how fun (and funny) life can be.  He's turned out pretty swell for having such a heartless and evil mother.
  • Siiiigh. That's what I thought too. It just blows because the last time I was too pregnant to fit into my maternity suit and now I can't go in for PP reasons. Swimming might be one of my favorite things and I can't evben do it with my kid. At least we can go on the beach while we are there too. Sad OK. pity party over.
