Finally! I wanted them to come out before Haley was born (we were trying to avoid names that were too common). Click here for the SS website.
Haley is 154th, but Hailey is 19th! Interesting. I thought we had gone with the more common spelling.
Where are your kids' names this year? Preggos, will this change your preferences at all?
Re: The top baby names of 2010 are out!
Eleanor is 165. So interesting to watch the trend on Eleanor... Its getting more and more popular. This is from Wolfram Alpha, shows the age distribution of the name Eleanor.
Ellie is 104

My kid hasn't made the list since before 2007 the year of his birth. But we are finding more and more of them.
Donovan has hovered around #200 spot for the past 10 years.
I tried really hard to avoid anything on the top 100 list. If I could have my way I would have avoided anything on the top 1000, but I know that's asking a lot.

Emmy's real name isn't in the top 1000, but I knew that going in. Ethan however is very popular.
Even though our boy name sounds trendy it is not on the list. DH, his dad, and his grandpa are the only Greydons that I have met, lol. Our top boy middle name choice seems to be getting more popular at 138 which kind of shocks me.
Our top girl name picks are 448 and 337 which is fine with me.
DD2: February 2014
Interesting, Grant was 144 last year and has now gone down to 155. I thought the opposite would happen since I've been seeing the name pop up all over (tv characters named Grant, people on the baby name board, etc.).
I honestly don't care too much about where the name is on the list. We just wanted a name that was "his" name. Our top girl name is in the #4 spot.
Yes, I find this very interesting, because when I was naming dd, we had so many negative comments about how Eleanor was such a doudy old grandma name, and we were just being cruel giving her that name. I never imagined how popular it is becoming. We know a lot of Eleanors, Ella's, and Ellie's.

G's name is 231. Went up 2 spots from last year.
S2 didn't even make the top 1000. Woot!

Our current front running boys name is 450+
And our current front running girls names are 320+ and 180+
I don't think the rankings would've influenced our decision making on names very much, even if they were more popular though.
I have an Isabella. But so far (knock on wood) she's been the only Isabella in her class the last 3 years.
And she was not named after Twilight.
Mason is number 12 this year - I knew it was increasing in popularity, but that's quite a jump: #37 the year he was born 35 in 2008, 34 in 2009 then to 12 in 2010.
Miles is 137 this year and 162 last year (his birth year).
WinterRose (and just Winter) do not crack the 1000
Greyson was at #500 the year he was born, and is now at #249. It's gone up a lot! The other spelling (GrAyson) is at #122.
There were a couple of girls names that I liked that were in the top 200, which nixed it for me. The other name I liked MOST for Winter (Tallulah) was not in the top 1000

But his spelling is not in the top 1000 since we picked family spelling (also the Irish spelling...which is a big duh since the family is Irish) of Emmet.

DS's name is 229 this year, the year he was born it was 212, just going down the list.
We haven't' picked out DS # 2's name yet, ideally it will not be in the top 100.
Ryan is 23...and Natalie is 14.
