birth certificate

We still haven't gotten copies of DD's birth certificate, and now my employer is requiring copies as well as our marriage certificate for our insurance.  Anyone know how long it takes to get a birth certificate?

    Anything up to 15 weeks for newborns because it takes them "THAT" long to get it into the system, 2 week or faster for everyone else.  You can go in person or have it expedited by sending the request via UPS and sending a prepaid UPS envelope.

    I'll probably end up going in person.  Apparently my employer thinks we are all cheating the system and have illegible dependents on our insurance and now requires all the documentation.  Gotta love budget cuts.

    It was in Montgomery County, correct? We got Leah's within three weeks of when we sent the forms in.

    This is when I finally went and got B's birth certificate...  It took about 2 weeks after I mailed the forms in. 

    FWIW, I had to go through this because of a law that was passed for school districts...  not sure if they now fall under it as well.

    I'm not sure what county you're in but I went a few years ago in person and got DD's (Hamilton Co.) in about an hour.  It was a pain to stand around and wait but I got to leave with it.

    We had to prove dependents for insurance as well. We also had the option of showing our taxes from the previous year because it lists your spouse and children. It was much easier that birth and marriage certificates. Maybe you could check to see if they allow tax documentation. GL!

    We actually have to show birth cert, marriage cert AND our tax forms.  Apparently there has to be no shadow of a doubt.  Huh?
