Nothing like waiting till the last minute, but does any one have any cute ideas for Mother's Day crafts? for Grandmas? TIA

Re: Mothers Day Crafts?

  • Fingerprint flowers, I think I saw it on Better Homes and Garden's web-site.

  • Last year we bought canvas bags at Hobby Lobby and put the kids hand prints on them for the Grandma's.

  • I just saw some cute ideas on some blogs ...

I think one of them was on Little Bit Funky or something like that.  "Hand made" Mother's Day corsages. You cut out 4 hand prints in some pretty color of felt, then a little rectangle of yellow felt that you make 3 slits in and some leaves out of green felt.  You line up the yellow slit rectangle along the pinky finger of one of the hands and wrap it tight, then wrap this with a second hand staggering the fingers. You glue or pin it shut to hold it while you make another flower in the same way.  You arrange the two flowers and the leaves together and then use colorful coordinating ribbon to cover the bases of the leaves and flowers by wrapping them tightly.  The you use your fingers to gently curl the petals back awy from the center to open up the flowers.  I'm not doing it justice.  They come out super cute.

  • Michaels's has aprons you can paint with fabric paint (hand prints, etc). We made bookmarks--I just put a pic of the girls with a quote by Alex Haley (of all people!) about grandparents on cardstock, and then had them color/write on the back, and tied a ribbon through a hole punched in the top. I faux-laminated them with clear packing tape. They came out decently cute. :)
