12 mo Fighting Naps All of a Sudden: A Stage or the Zoloft?

I still BF and I just went on Zoloft a little over a month ago. DS just turned one 2 weeks ago. Right around his 1st Bday he really started fighting naps. I mean really fighting: rolling around, screaming, waking after 30 min,... Do you think this would have happened around a year anyway or could it be the trace amounts of Zoloft he's getting in my milk? He's 22lbs and I'm taking 50mg daily. He nurses 2-5 times per day depending if I'm working or home. WDYT?

Re: 12 mo Fighting Naps All of a Sudden: A Stage or the Zoloft?

  • I usually lurk, but I wanted to let you know what I experienced in hopes that it might help shed some light on your situation.  I've been on Zoloft for over a year now (just starting the weaning process off it today) and my DD BF up until February.  I was up to 100 mg and DD is a peanut (17 lbs 14 oz at her 15 mo appt).  I never noticed any sleep issues arising from the med, but she did go through a sleep regression around the same time as your DS.  I think part of DDs problem was that she was so excited about the world around her that she just didn't want to sleep, along with cutting her molars.  Several of my mommy friends have also had their DC go through sleep issues around a year old, so I think that your DS sleep issues are from normal growth progression and/or teething rather than the med.  HTH and I hope that your DS starts sleeping better soon!  :)
