Parenting after 35

So grateful!

I read so many posts about men not paying child support, single parents who are struggling, teenage moms, and I think that I am so grateful that I have my husband, who is NOT perfect and does stupid things but supports me and takes care of me and my little sister.

I am also thankful that I did not get married just to get married, I waited until I found the right person, married at 38, pregnant at 39...Happily ever after can begin at any age.

What are we grateful for ladies?

Re: So grateful!

  • I am grateful that, as older, more established people, we can afford for me to be a SAHM.   Not that my career was going anywhere anyway.

I am also very grateful for 3 hour naps and I rue the day that Charlie stops needing them.

I'm grateful for my amazing DH and my equally amazing little boy. They're my treasures.

Like you, I am grateful that I didn't get married just to get married (almost happened only months before I met my DH). I married at 38, pregnant at 38 and a mom at 39. Now, at 41, I'm grateful for my nuclear family--even when my family of origin is a challenge.

  • Even though there are things that could def. be better, I am grateful for so much:

-Adrian, we tried for a while to get pregnant and I am grateful each and every day that he was born healthy and makes us so happy. If I had known this kind of love existed, I would have started having babies sooner! Sure, there are days when I just want to run screaming from the house and go to a weekend spa retreat (that sounds sooo good) but I don't regret having a child at all, not for a second.

-Our jobs and the fact that I can work part-time in a job I like and still have plenty of time to spend with Adrian (super knock on wood on that one).

-Our families. I wish we could visit them more often.

-Our health (knock on wood again!)

There are other things but these are the ones that come to mind right now.

  • Oh, and of course, DH. He's the sweetest, kindest person I know and a terrific father to Adrian.
