My sister just gave her 6 week old 10 oz of pumped milk. She said he guzzled it and wants more. I don't bottle-feed often, but my 5 month old will only take 5 oz. Does this seem like a crazy amount to anyone else?

Re: 10 oz bottle?
I just told her this, and she said "he's old enough to know not to over-eat". Great.
Whaaaaat? I'm surprised the poor kid didn't explode.
I seriously worry about this kid. All of the time. *sigh*
Good lord, if that's okay with her then what's a "normal feeding" if the baby is able to take that much she has obviously been over feeding which has stretched the stomach out to even beable to handle that much food.
My DS ALWAYS lets me know when he's full, he will physically spit out a bottle if he doesn't want to eat so some babies do know when they are full.

Holy crap, I don't even own bottles that holds 10 oz.
Before my nephew start solids at 6 months he only took 8oz and he was chunky baby with a big appetite, 20 lbs by 4.5 months.
ETA: That poor child. I wonder what she told her pedi at the 1 month check up or if she didn't have one what she will tell him at the 2 month appt. I hope the pedi knocks some sense into her head!
She's mainly BFing, but giving about one bottle of pumped milk a day (to get him used to taking a bottle). She's definitely giving him more in his bottle than what I would expect a 6 week old to eat, but I think today was the first time he had 10 oz.
I could write a book full of the great parenting tidbits I get from her. Her baby is sleeping a 5-6 hour stretch at night now, while my 5 month old (thanks to teething and the 4 month wakeful) is waking every 1-2 hours. She offered to put him to bed for me, since she seems to have "the magic touch" with babies. Thanks, Supermom. Maybe you could just pump a billion ounces of milk into him, and he'll go into a coma for the night.
It seems like a heck of a lot!
My 4 month old only eats between 4-6 oz a bottle.
