RLS (restless leg syndrome), anyone?

This week, I have noticed at night I get RLS really bad. It takes me a long while to fall asleep because of it. :(

I have never had this before, so this is all new to me. With my son I had tons of charlie horses and bad sciatic nerve pain, but never this.

Anyone else experiencing RLS? Any known cures or ways to relieve?

  • I had this with my DD too and I have had it for a couple of months already. So annoying and very hard to fall asleep at night. I stretch my legs or hang them over the bed, that seems to help a little.

  • Ugh, yes.  I've found that taking a long walk an hour or so before bed tends to help.  Otherwise I do exercises that quickly tire my legs and arms (squats and push ups) takes the edge off.

    Great advice, ladies.
I have been super exhausted the past couple days because I am getting little sleep, so I will definitely be trying these remedies. Thank you!

  • OMG, it's the worst! I've had it for the past month.

I've found that if I march around the living room (lifting my knees high) and shake my legs before getting back into bed, I'm able to fall back to sleep. I do this every time I get up to pee at night otherwise, it keeps me up. I do if for less than 20 seconds and it seems to work.

If I try to ignore it, I just end up tossing and turning and waking up my husband. He's been a trooper but we're both trying to get as much sleep as possible while we can ;)

  • i had it pre pg. but had it a lot w/my ds, not so much this time.. yet anyway.

i didn't find much relief sadly... i've heard calcium helps though, so you could try eating a couple tums when it flares up.

I will definitely try this method, too. Thanks!

Yes-- that is also my goal. Getting as much sleep as possible before she arrives!

  • I don't have it now, but growing up I used to get it a lot. I found that putting a heating pad on them helped to relax them.
