He just turned 5 months on Tuesday. He weighs 22.3lbs, size 12-18 month clothes and size 4 diapers. People keep telling me that his growth will slow down, but I'm not seeing that happen at all!
whoa that is a big boy. My friend's DD was about that size which I find very amusing b/c my 3yr old finally just passed the 30 lbs mark, but he is a little guy.
DS1 was born really big and was on the top of the charts until 6 mos and then he slowed down. Usually the weight gain slows after 6 mos. b/c they start crawling, walking, etc. just burning more calories overall. I wouldn't worry.
Love me some big healthy babies!! My DD was like that (weighed like 30 pounds at 12 months). I think they usually slow way down when they start walking.
My boys are scrawny though... Henry will be 2 in less than a month and is just under 25 lbs My little man
I just looked at Ellie's growth. I don't have her weight at 5 months, but at 6 months, she was 22 lbs. (and I know she was in 12-18 months clothes). At 9 months, she was 22 lbs., 10 oz. At 12 months, she was 22 lbs., 12 oz. And she didn't crawl until 10 months or walk until 15 months (in part, I think, because she was so big).
So I really think it will level off for you before too long. Ellie was off the charts for weight for at least her first 9 months. Now, at 3, she is 32 pounds and in the 73rd percentile for weight and 74th percentile for height. She wears 3Ts and 4Ts. She's growing beautifully. Try not to worry about it and enjoy those rolls and baby chub while they last!
My DS! Sounds just like him, and I didn't believe anyone that he would slow down, either! Once he was sitting and trying to crawl he really did slow way down, though. He actually went back down half a pound to 22.5 at his nine month appt., and last week at one year he was only 24 pounds. So it really can happen.
I know exactly how you feel, though. No one believed that he could be between six and nine months old and wear 12-18 month clothing and size 6 diapers. Everyone looked at me like I either didn't know his age or was doing something wrong. He's just now moving into 18-24 months, though, and he's been back down to size 5 diapers for a few months now. He can still wear many of the things he was wearing around Thanksgiving since he's lengthened out and slimmed down.
I guess the plus side is that your DS might still be able to wear some of his spring clothing in the fall!
My kid was that big. He's still a big boy, but not as chunky. He's also tall. We were up to 35 pounds by 2, but I don't think he's gained any since. Most of his major weight gain was before 6 months, but its not like he shrunk after that I still have a lot if his weight milestones in my siggy below. Enjoy the smooshy kisses!
I'm glad to hear that he will probably even out, eventually. His weight doesn't bother me really, he has been EBF since birth and the pedi isn't concerned. The only time I feel bad is when people that I don't know act like I'm crazy when I say he is 4 months, 5 months, etc. They always reply with "NO WAY!" But I definitely love a chubby baby, so I'm not complaining
