dumb question re: nursing tanks

Ok, bear with me because I'm on bedrest so I can't look at these things in the store myself.  Does a nursing tank provide bra-like support or not?  I don't want to wear a tank and a bra, but I know I will want some support for my boobs because I'm about a 36 DD now and I know they will be bigger when my milk comes in.

So, those who have BTDT, do you prefer a nursing bra and regular shirt, or the tank?  TIA

The one I have is kinda like the shelf tanks with the built in bra. Not super supportive...but not just one layer of material. Hope that makes sense.

The only ones I have seen have a "shelf bra"...I wouldn't think that they would give you the support that you are wanting. I'm a smaller breasted woman...34 B, and they don't give me all of the support I want.

I don't think that this was a dumb question at all...I'm a first timer, but I'm not planning on buying any of these but I am planning to breast feed. I have bought nursing bras though.

  • Yeah I think I will be wearing a bra underneath...I don't feel they are super supportive.
  • Yup, they have a shelf bra. I am 42DD, so I had to wear a nursing sports bra underneath for added support.
  • I am getting a few of these to simply hold breast pads in place for the first few weeks. Due to my chest size I will be spending about $60 per nursing bra, so I want to wait a few weeks before I buy my bras. I will be using tanks to get me by....

  • i'ma  DD and i can't STAND wearing a bra right now! i can't even imagine how it will be when they are bigger. when i get home the bra comes off and the tanks with the built in bras go on!

  • I got a couple of nursing tanks but I think I'm just going to stick to nursing bras plus a regular shirt because the tanks are thin and nonsupportive.

  • im a DD and also can't stand bras right now...id much rather wear a shelf tank...i wore shelf tanks under regular shirts with ds and i plan on doing the same thing again this time around
  • Bravado's nursing tanks do have a "real bra" underneath them. I've tried one on, but haven't purchased any yet. They are fairly pricey, but I think I'll be getting a couple.
