  • A really nice fixed length lens for taking portraits.

A full spa day, outrageously priced, of course.

Some sort of mommy necklace, e.g., with LO's name on it.

Alternately, he could clean ALL this extra stuff we have in our house/yard and get it out of our lives for good.  I think this one is FAR less likely.  :)

  • All I asked for is a night alone in a hotel. :) I think he's going to take the kids somewhere all morning and let me sleep in at least. We don't do gifts much. Neither of us needs anything and I hate buying stuff just for the sake of obligation.

  • a really expensive camera or a six pack (abs)! Obviously I won't get either! :(

  • I would like some quiet time, please.

But I think he's going to run out to Safeway and bring home some kind of flower or plant, while I take care of the kids and daydream about quiet time. Just like all the other holidays :)

I'm mostly hoping he surprises me, but trying to not get my hopes up.

Ha- that reminds me- last weekend after we finished moving in he says, "I'm getting you the biggest Mother's Day present of all!" and I get all excited and say "Really? What?" and he says "A house!"

Yeah. Please dont cop-out using the house as a "gift."

  • I'd like the Christmas tree out of our yard, along with the dead plant in its pot that died over a year ago that he set out there "waiting for the garbage to have room in it."

I'd like the organized garage he promised me last summer.

I'd like my husband to be home from work before 7 p.m. instead of staying late to work on his project car.

But I'll settle for anything nice - just flowers and dinner I don't have to cook.

Tell him!  Tell him to take the damn kids for a drive in the car for an hour.

This is us too.  And usually I'm too stressed about money to feel really good about gifts.  Though I'd definitely love a gift cert for a massage.

That's what I thought too L when I was pg & jokingly said to DH the day before Mother's day that he better get me a "Mom to be" gift! I would never have guessed about 5 hrs after saying that my waters broke & I went 2 weeks early and got the best Mother's day gift ever...Coop :)  So be prepared you might get a similar gift!!!

Me too! I seriously just go buy what I want these days so I have no idea what DH would even get me,and because we are in the process of buying a new house I would rather put the extra $$ to that than buy stuff we don't need. Breakfast in bed and flowers would be nice though!

Yeah, if the house is your gift, it's his Father's Day and birthday gift too! :) And I'm with B, I'm so close, I really would love to have your kids come play for a few hours and you do whatever you want!

This. Besides, we have our anniversary in June, then my birthday in August and his in September, so it's a long run of holidays/ fancy dinners out/gifts.

We actually just bought an elliptical because we don't have the time to join a gym -- and don't want to drag Collin out all the time if we want to go -- so as a joint mother's day/father's day gift, we're getting a new TV for the guest room for watching while using the elliptical. I initially wanted a massage, but I also want to exercise more and am much more inclined to do it when I have something to distract me. So it's a bit more practical, but we're happy with our idea.

"But the baby is your gift" is the joke I get every holiday. Nice try honey!

...for him to take over early morning baby duty (to be fair he does most of the hard core pre-bedtime play)...sleep in, surf pinterest, a card, maybe a small trinket. And if the weather cooperates a family picnic Saturday at Kubota Garden.

What I would really LOVE to see happen is for him to take over all the planning of what do so Sunday for my Mom and MIL on Sunday that my sister said she was going to plan but then basically flaked out on. Big surprise.

  • We're the same as others have posted, on a tight budget and both have birthdays in the next few months, so we usually just do cards for Mother's/Father's Day.

  • I want sleep. Or a gift card to buy more e-books.
  • Sleep!  I probably won't get that, just a card & maybe a little gift.
