On Wednesday night we went to the Kaiser hospital tour. It was awesome and too long. I had a few questions and got everything I needed answered.
I just love;
1) They make you bond (skin to skin) for the first hour+ of life - Vag or C/S, Daddy gets to do skin to skin or wait until your in recovery. Daddy holds baby the entire time and has his bonding time. (Last time they took DD away for 1-3 hours with Daddy). Waiting sucked and it felt like forever.
2) Baby is always in our room with us, never leaves even for labs or tests. EVERYTHING comes to us (except circumcision).
3) The rooms are private!
4) The hospital is very clean
I had such a great experience with DD and I hope/wish/pray the experience is the same and I get to have the VBAC I've wanted.
Tomorrow I have my 37 week check up and getting checked for GBS. I think my DS is lower because today, oh boy walking was touch and I could feel him really low. Can't wait to meet my son. Looking forward to the baby shower on Saturday, mostly visiting with my family and friends who will be celebrating.
Ookay, good morning or good night, lol
Re: Hospital Tour
Glad you are diggin your hospital! I'm pretty happy with my place as well.
Can you believe we hit 37 weeks and "full term"!!! tomorrow! I have to admit that I am a little jealous that you might have dropped. I have NOTHING going on. She is still very high and seems like she has no interest in making her way down. I think I am going to go the whole way. I have my 36 week appointment today, with only one day left in 36
I don't expect any kind of news. Good luck tomorrow, the GBS test is nothing, I had it last week.
I totally envy both of you!
I wish I had the energy and felt well enough to do all those things LOL
We had our hospital tour and birth class back in early April (I had to be carted around in a wheelchair because I couldn't do the walking).
The hospital does all of the things mentioned above. My beef is that the "private rooms" are smaller than the master bathroom in my house! It's going to be a challenge and I can tell I'm going to want to go home ASAP.
Kim,
They say that first pregnancies usually go long. I'm sure the only reason I will be going early are due to all the complications. At least you still feel well! And trust me, having the baby laying on your cervix for 3 weeks is no walk in the park. There are days when the pain of the crushed bladder, the swelling of my feet from the blood pressure meds and the position of her beating on my crotch literally has me in tears.
Just hang in there!
You might not be feeling anything, and she's engaged. Babies choose their own time, that's for sure. I had my DD at 36 w 5 d (today for me, lol) and it was long and ended in a c/s, which was great! I had no issues and really my positivity helped cope with the pain. I look back now and think it really was nothing, what's a little back labor (blah). You tend to forget.
This morning I turned wrong and OMG, pain on my left side, like I tore something. Walking is a real treat, lol.
Yeah GBS is nothing (I remember and was neg last time). I am looking forward to meeting the little guy, however not in a rush. I want to enjoy the little time we have with DD before he arrives.
The post partum room is a shoe box and built in the 1950s. You share a bathroom (which sucks) and the biggest drawback is that your hospital bed is the first thing on the left/right so your back faces the door, which is the dumbest plan ever. It seems so unsafe to me, especially if someone wants to come in and get your baby, lol. Really odd layout. It screws me up since I am right handed (don't ask, lol). I too am thinking of a way to go home early, lol.
The birthing suites are HUGE and clean. Of course of the tour they show you the nicest rooms, lol.
